We got to the park just as it was opening and had the whole place to ourselves. It was breath takingly beautiful and I can't wait to go back. We traveled across country and it was the perfect refreshing stop. I would say this is a must if you are in the area, families, couples, everyone! You absolutely cannot capture the beauty in a photograph!

Madison Blue Springs State Park is an oasis in the woods. Crystal clear, ice cold water in a shady spot in the woods beside the river; it is a nice place for a family outing or just to cool off for awhile. Very pretty. Clean facilities and park. Nice job Florida!

The blue color of these springs is better than any photos show. The water is colder than your ex'es heart. But you have to do it. Jump in, then float out on the current to the river, where the water is about 10 degrees warmer, and brown. Its really fun. They have a food and supply vendor there, selling inflatables, and limited food and drink. Hang out, swim the river, etc, I found it to be a small and crowded, with lots of little kids, which is why i prefer peacock springs.. but we had teen kids with us, and they preferred this spring.

We had a great day at Blue Springs Park in Lee. Definitely need- not negotiable- water shoes next time because the rocks can be brutal! Very cold and clear water- they took put the jumping platform off- so no more jumping in from any height, but we never went when I was there so we didn't miss it. I would highly recommend goggles, and underwater camera, and definitely a sturdy float for going down the "rapids" (very short ride but lots of fun if you're on a float- top shallow otherwise and you'll get your knees knocked up)

Madison Blue Springs was an excellent, inexpensive way to spend the afternoon. The $5 entry fee was a pittance to pay for such an enjoyable experience. There are bathrooms, picnic tables and an open shower to rinse off before you head home. The spring itself has a nice deck and there are railings around the spring on the walkway to the river. The water is delightfully cold, but if that is not tolerable, the river is adjacent and it is shallow enough at the mouth of the springs to allow you to walk out or to swim in the river. The current is strong in that area, and if you have tender feet, I recommend some type of water shoes. The afternoon we went, it was not very busy and it was peaceful. I am sure that on busy days it is crowded, but even then, I think it is a delightful way to spend a day or an afternoon.Madison Blue Springs is approximately 20 miles from I-75, Jasper, and ten miles from Madison, FL. I recommend packing a picnic, or water and snacks if you wish to stay on site all day. Words of caution in planning: the bathroom facilities are usually locked around 6:30 P.M. and even though the park closes around 8 P.M., the spring and river access closes at 7 P.M. We had to change into dry clothing Point Break style.

Madison Blue Springs is a wonderful undiscovered Florida park. With swimming and picnic areas, this is old Florida's best. Enjoy cooling off in a first magnitude spring that stays 72 degrees all year round. If you are a driver there are caves to explore. The staff is friendly and informative. Pack a lunch and spend the day

I love the area. We gather to BBQ, socialize and celebrate. Always clean. Easily accessible by vehicle. The springs are lots of fun for the kids! There are campsites if you want to stay over. The Suwannee River flows right by the springs, actually connecting to it so there are lots of things to do. We tube or knee board from boats in the river as well.

While this park was also a SCUBA diving hot spot it offered more scenic beauty than Peacock springs. Mostly because the spring flowed out into a river and I think that kept the algae from covering the top of it. Once again you have a deep crystal blue pool of water that bubbles out and flows into the stream by its side, cutting into the dark brown water of the river and opening up the river bottom for you to see. This is a great picnic spot or a place to stop and jump in the water to cool off although this park is rather undeveloped and I don't recall there being any facilities to shower.
