Love to go to this beach but it is next to impossible to find a place to stay here. Drum circle on Wednesday and Saturday nights at sunset is fun but not as good as last year!!! Where are the hula hoops??? Miss them. Beautiful, wide beach with great bathrooms and nice quiet places to sit, some nice shells and even a few shark teeth. It is fun to look at the nearby homes and fun to ride bikes to the end of Caspey Key Usland where the beach is located.
Water gets a bit rough when the tide changes. But, this is a nice Florida beach. There is a long jetty for people to fish and plenty of beach to swim and if you like collecting shells, this is a great shelling beach. We were fortunate enough to see several dolphins and even a manatee on this trip to Nokomis Beach. I recommend this for families, couples, fishermen, etc. Great place to go for the day.
By far the best beach in the area. There are many others, but good parking, fun to people watch, awesome views. Also very easy to take a nice walk down to the jetty (where you can find food). And at night, on certain nights, they have at the drums playing as the sun goes down. A perfect time to bring some drinks and enjoy an amazing sunset.
What a fun time and such a beautiful setting for the drum circle...wide beach, gentle surf, fun times & beautiful sunset!
I love everything about Nokomis Beach. I love the easy parking. I love that it's not crowded. I love the view. I love the good shelling. I love the walk along the shoreline. Love, love, love it.
Except for some rough areas with lots and lots of little shells... a little sharp on "winter tender" feet, this beach is awesome! Sharks teeth can be found with just a little patience and some very nice whole shells, too. The water in February was warmer than I expected... especially for this winter of 2015 and my husband even took a swim...briefly...with some fish bumping into him... LOL! Not me! But I thoroughly enjoyed walking through the surf. Sunset was just beautiful.
During our winter escapes to Florida we typically pick a day each week to hit the road for a beach destination trip and Nokomis Beach/Casey Key is always on our list. It is a lovely public beach with free parking, nice restroom facilities, and a scenic boardwalk that runs atop the mangroves that line the beach. After a few hours enjoying the sun, sand, and surf we drive the short distance to the North Jetty Beach to sit and enjoy the boats coming and going with views of Venice in the distance. Would suggest making time to drive the narrow road that snakes north through Casey Key past some impressive beach home properties with incredible gulf views and stopping at the Casey Key Fish House for drinks and something to eat before crossing the old single lane swivel bridge to exit Casey Key. A perfectly enjoyable Florida gulf beach day trip.
Unfortunately, too many people know about Nokomis Beach, the free public beach on Casey Key. It is very nicely put together with a lot of parking. I was hoping that because Casey is a lot smaller than Siesta Key or Manasota Key, that it would be less popular. Not the case. There is everything you would want in a beach. However, you need to get there early to get a parking spot as well as a good spot on the beach. Casey Key itself is home to a lot of mansions-- nicer ones than you'd find on Siesta Key. So, after you're done on the beach, be sure to take a drive down the length of Casey Key Road and take in all the sites. Guaranteed your eyes will be popping at what you'll see.
Drum circles on Wednesdays and Saturdays, under the shelter if too cold and windy to be on the beach. Impressive drummers. A variety of hoopers and dancers. Always entertaining. A great place to take a happy hour picnic for sunset. The tower next to the drum circle is a great spot to get some good photos. Parking lots overflow by 5 pm but lots of overflow spots exist. Be sure to stay after sunset for the LED lighted hoops, which are great entertainment.
BEST shell beach around! We've been here many times - this visit was on the very last day in Florida and didn't want to miss coming here. Clean beach..... family oriented..... lifeguard on duty.... waves are steady and the shells keep rolling in. Parking was not an issue, but it wasn't peak time either. In past experiences, this can be a problem. There are bathroom/changing facilities there, along with an informational area, which talks about the history of Nokomis Beach and how it was founded, etc. Interesting to read about!
We visited back in 2010 and liked it, so we returned. There are many benches to enjoy a sunset. Pier is another great place to see the sunset. It tends to be crowed and parking is usually a challenge. But well worth the trip
Great sun set very nice beach, would recommend a must see. I will return to enjoy next year. two nights a week they have live drummers and people participate in dancing until sunset. Very entertaining.
It was very wide, clean and quiet. It has a life guard for those who like to swim. Perfect for relaxing. I would return in a minute.
This was probably my favorite beach out of all the ones we visited. It wasn't too crowded and they had nice walk ways to get to the beach. I wish I could have found this beach sooner. I will definitely go back!!
The beach is great and always plenty of parking available and if you head down to no jetty beach great view of boats coming and going through inlet. Also nice snack bar and clean restrooms
