When you book a tee time and the playing fees are less than $30 including cart, your expectations are not very high. The layout is very interesting with well placed fairways bunkers and well protected elevetad greens. The tee boxes and fairways are greatly missing grass. At least the greens were in much better shape. Considering the price,I will return. It's better than hitting balls in a driving range.
We played this golf course a week before Christmas. it is one of the best Florida layouts we played but absolutely the worst condition. The tees and fairways are quite overrun with crabgrass. You can find a spot on most fairways to move your ball to, but you will almost always move your ball. The greens is very good for about 15 of the holes with 3 of the greens having just some spotty crabgrass growth, maybe a dozen patches or less. I have read this group is trying to rejuvenate the course and I hope they succeed, but i would wait a while, like maybe 8 to 10 months to see if they are able to solve the grass problems.
I'm not a golfer but I love walking and driving past it... Very peaceful and beautiful, makes me wanna learn how to play.
The course was in pretty poor shape except for the greens which were in good shape. The fairways looked like a cow pasture with bare spots and patches. Even foe the $28 rate I would skip it.
First, I want to clarify, I'm not a member. I was invited to attend an event with a local chamber. At the event, food was served. So this isn't the clubhouse I'm talking about, it's the main eating area they provide for banquets, etc. I'm going to review the food. I think I've tasted better food at a hospital. The food was buffet style and should not have passed the chef. I was not impressed. The chicken was rather bland, the salad contained a romaine heart that I had to pull out of my mouth (because I didn't realize I had to watch for those types of pieces), and the rest of the food wasn't much better. The best part was the red skin potatoes, but even those were just 'ok.' I wouldn't recommend eating there unless you are golfing (and then I'd get a hot dog and beer). Given this second time I've attended this event at this location with the same type of food results, I wouldn't consider hosting an event such as a wedding or banquet there unless you get very specific about what you want. Additionally, the service was so-so...nothing specular. Again, not bad, but not great. I expected better...maybe my expectations were too high?
Read the harsh reviews and decided to try binks anyway since i live close by. Got a super great rate playing in the morning. I havent picked up clubs in two years, but i did play a lot back then, and on some outstanding courses ... and not some not so good ones. Binks is probably right in the middle. Yes, it could be better. The greens are slow but in pretty good condition overall. The fairways on most holes are well maintained. A couple were being aerated and need a little tlc. The biggest problem i had were the bunkers. Sand was fairly hard, though i wonder if that could have been because ofof overnight rain. But heres the thing. Its not doral and i dont want it to be. The prices are great and its serene. A few holes could be more challenging but the flip side is that i scored well. I always like that. The good news is, there were maintenance guys everywhere and the pro shop crew and starters were super friendly. Ok, theres no gps, but i kinda like that. With a little more work, his place can be great again. For now, im psyched to just play a decent track with reasonable pricing. And one more thing, i played solo and finished in three hours, even with a group ahead of me. Ill definitely be coming back.
This once beautiful and challenging course has seen hard times...every aspect of the golf course was in bad shape...after recently playing the course.again out of curiosity I was pleasantly surprised to see some definite signs of improvement. The greens were decent compared to what they used to be although very slow..and the fairways and tee boxes showed improvement so that with lift and clean you could get a decent lie at least somewhere near where your ball ends up....the bunkers and waste areas were bad and need a lot of improvement. If this course is ever to come close to what it once was it will still need a lot of work..The course is now at least playable where once it wasn't and one can only hope management continues to make efforts to restore this course.
I played there for the first time and was impressed, at first, by the good condition of the buildings. However once inside things started downhill. The musty mildew odor was quite strong and no way to greet members, or guests. The course itself is in bad shape. The fairways have more weeds than grass and the greens are in poor condition too. Competition is stiff and I'm sorry to say Binks isn't competitive. I can't imagine what management is thinking, but Binks looks like a sinking ship.
There was time when this was my go to golf course here in Wellington, with its challenging layout and previously well maintained course, it was a real golf deal for the $40 green fee. Unfortunately the good times are clearly in the rearview mirror. The course is incredibly poorly kept, from sandy and patchy tee boxes to overgrown burnt greens, old Binks has seen better days. The state of the course makes it unplayable, really is a shame... Zero bang for your buck. In simple words go somewhere else.
Nice Golf course in Wellington….lots of tight fairways and landscaped beautifully ! Course has been in town for well over 20 years , but always fun !!The 18th is my favorite cause if you make the green everyone in the clubhouse can see your shot …over water to a tight green !!!
This was a very nice course at one time . Today it is barely playable . What a shame . The clubhouse & banquet rooms have been maintained & are very nice .
A wonderful golf course in a beautiful setting. Not to crowded and the staff treats you very well. Beautiful trees and some nice par 5's.
Poorly laid out unchallenging and completely unmaintained. If greens fees weren't so cheap it would be a joke. Pro Shop...if you can call it that is a complete embarrassment...
I have played Binks Forest for a long time. They have struggled of late and have dropped the green's fees quite a bit. That is the good news. The bad news is that the course is not in the best shape. If you do not care about how much grass is on the greens, go for it.
We went and played at my friends insistence, something told me not but how bad could it be. We went to Can Am golf. net and got some decent prices, But when you end up saying no wonder it was so cheap. I thought we were in jungle city with the quantity of mosquitos I killed over 20 blood filled ones and 30 just landed ones. The greens need lot of fixing, I shot a few into the light rough and lost golf balls. Unfortunately they will have to put in lots of work and money before I will go back. After the second hole I wanted to go home. and to chose home over golf is dire
