We gathered up our grand kids to take them for a pony ride. When we arrived to our surprise, cost was only $5 to enter and $3 for pony ride. We found they have so much more. Hayride, train ride, animal petting area, snakes all the way to wolves! The play area was awesome for the under 8 year olds along with games.Horse rides are available 6 years and up. Our 2,3and 4 year olds rode ponies led by school age volunteers. Everyone had a great time and animal education is available by the staff of young people in vet training schools. We will go again!!!
Enjoy visiting this non-profit organization ! Horse Power for kids or "Nature's secret" tucked away on the edge of Tampabay was put together with Love for the children & Nature in mind. Such a relaxing time on every visit, with all the volunteers so kind, caring, & friendly. A must visit for everyone from Adult to toddler. "A perfect date". As a previous review states "a real dis-connect" that was well needed !..P.s. I have been visiting this getaway for 7 years & have watched it evolve into a beautiful nature wonderland. Just as the kids who wanted candy visited Willie wonka's factory if its to visit Nature your kids are looking for,or beauty, or just a calm relaxing atmosphere you seek this will be your next stop for sure.
WE were looking for a place to ride horses and found several of them to have questionable practices regarding the animals. I stumbled upon this place it is all that the reviews say. First and foremost, it is a NONPROFIT place, so the prices are the best around ($20 per person for over a one hour trial ride, the other places were 90-130 dollars! for 1/2 an hour). The guide did a great job of picking out the right horse for each person's level of experience. He also got all of us to trot several times on the horses. I am not experienced and even I trotted! The trail was very pretty and we ended up on a beach with get photo opportunities. Once we were done we could roam around the farm freely. There are many exotic and domestic animals, many are available for petting. The animals are rescue animals and it is nice to see them so happy and interactive. They have horses, goats, prairie dogs, aardvark, guinea pigs, snakes, etc. It was wonderful! I cannot say enough good things about this place. We will got back every year.
I love this non-profit. They take very good care of their animals, everyone is always friendly and the activities they have around Halloween and Easter are perfect for kids and families of all ages. I even rented a pony and animals to come to my house for my daughter's party and it was FANTASTIC!
I attend the Valentine's Day couples party last night. We had a blast it was nice by the fire and the trail was very nice seeing all the stars so bright cause it was so dark out there. The horses are well cared for and the trail guides Amy & Sasha were awesome. I loved it. It was a great surprise from my hubby! Thanks for the great experience.
I could tell by the way my mom reacted when we first drove up that she thought Horse Power for Kids might turn out to be a bad idea. But I had read the reviews and knew we were in for a treat. It is a humbly-appointed property, clean and lovingly cared for. We got there as all the animals were being fed and there was a quiet but steady pace to the day unfolding. I had my three year old and my 19 month old twins in tow. And there was something for everyone to see or touch or climb on (great play set in the middle of the petting area!). We took our time meandering, and the friendly staff checked in on us repeatedly to offer the train ride or a pony ride ($3 for 10 minutes...cheap!) As other reviewers have noted, there is a wide range of animals in a very comfortable setting. the signage isn't perfect, so it would be easy to miss the aviary or not learn the names of certain animals. But three year olds can't read anyway! The animals all seemed healthy and comfortable and calm. It didn't hurt that we happened to be there on a gorgeous day, but it seems like there is enough shade for even the hottest days to be comfortable. By the end of our visit, my mom was raving about how great our adventure was. Highly recommend it and will definitely be back over the years as my kids get older.
Horse power for kids is a non-profit organization. The animals are well kept and the staff is very friendly. This is a opportunity to see beautiful animals and play with them,my child loved the pony ride and the playground was amazing n everything was very clean n everywhere I looked there was a big bottle of sanitizer. My son loved Tom the train, this is a wonderful farm to visit with your children n family. It is a great value for the whole family. The view to the lake and all the benches around it was wonderful and very relaxing n me n my son sat and had a wonderful lunch. This farm is absolutely beautiful! Affordable prices and great for families. Check it out, it's a great place to be with your family and friends, or even yourself. I really enjoy this farm and look forward to visiting again (:
Horse Power For Kids is a great place to go to disconnect yourself and the kids from the constant bombardment of technology and reconnect with nature for a great, refreshing charge. You can go for a day or volunteer and spend your days watching the quirky antics of the animals, every day is an adventure. You can have children parties, bonfires, ride horses or even board your horse. Armando has created quite a Garden of Eden, that is constantly changing and more beautiful and upgraded daily. You can tell everyone there is passionate about the care of the animals. If you are just visiting or live here, take the time to stop by.
My family went to HorsePower 4 Kids for a petting farm and it is so much more! The entry fee is minimal for what they offer. You can reserve a trail ride on nice horses, you can bring your own food and drink..... have a picnic! There are Llama, a kangaroo, deer, savana cat, fox, wolf dogs, alpaca, goats, sheep, pigs of all sizes, horses of all sizes and breeds along with a wagon ride. A pond filled with Geese, swan, ducks and wild birds come too. The neat best awsome place to be for a day. This place is so great our own United States Bird, the American Bald Eagle, comes to nest there each year and right now the chicks are feathered and will soon be learning to fly. Great photo opportunities abound at HorsePower 4 Kids.
reasonably price, great fun for all ages! Best in tampa bay! great people, it is a non-profit organization so you are helping kids.
I went there for a birthday party, and it was the best place ever!!! The horses are friendly and the people are nice. They had baby guinea pigs, and my child couldn't stop holding them!!! If you love animals, go there!!!
We visited for the Fall Festival so a lot was going on. I am sure we missed things because of lack of signage but we managed to just wonder around. I think all of the animals had signs explaining what they were and where they where from, etc. Plenty of staff/volunteers that were friendly and helpful. They were always cleaning up after people were did not clean up after themselves. The only thing is would say we the pumpkin patch needed work. Staff and visitors picking up by stems which hurts them hence no stems were left on most pumpkins. Also most pumpkins were bruised probably by people not watching children handle them as I saw a lot of kids pick them up then throw them down. We did not buy one because we could not find one in good condition.Overall, we had a great experience and look forward to returning next year.
There are 3 essential components for a good trail ride. Horsepower for kids had all 3. 1. The horses. Well-cared for on the grounds of a large animal rescue/petting zoo. Appropriate for each rider.2. The trail guide. She was conversational but not intrusive. She offered nice local info (we were visiting) and answered all of our questions. Helped my daughter feel happy and confident on what was her very first ride but won't be her last.3. The trails. Only a bit on the street, mostly near the bay and we even got to ride into the bay.Anita was very easy to deal with long distance to set up the ride. The only thing that would have made this 5 stars would have been a little cantering. If you are local or just visiting I recommend Horsepower for kids. Stay and enjoy the petting zoo and rescue animals. Thanks for a nice visit and ride, Horsepower for kids!
I live in the Tampa area and I have an 18 month old. I'm always on the look out for awesome experiences to share with my son during the week especially since we are planning on homeschooling. This exceeded all of my expectations. It was beautiful, clean, fun, kind and I can say that not only about the animals but about all the people, the volunteers and the sanctuary itself. I love their mission, their cause and I totally support any sanctuary that hasn't stolen the animals from other countries (like the Zoo or Busch Gardens, etc). BTW.....it's especially awesome for toddlers because they have this play are with bikes and jungles gyms. It's pretty rad!!!!
