Nice spot for a walk. The pier is 1400' and wraps around under the Granada Bridge from Cassen Park to Bailey River bridge Gardens on the other side. People are aplenty but all were friendly offering hello's. There are restrooms, boat launch, picnic tables, grills, fish cleaning station. We took a leisurely stroll and the breeze from the river was excellent...it was relaxing and calming. NICE spot.

Beautiful place for an afternoon stroll. Loved to watch the slow glittering movement of the Halifax river. Plenty of benches all along the paths.

Cassen Park is a small park located right on the Halifax River. A large part of the park is actually located right under the impressive Granada Bridge. A nice walking path always starts from the park and goes along the river and gives great views. Many benches and some bathrooms are always available.Perhaps the coolest thing, except for the fantastic views and the sea breezes, is the large pier that extends out into the water under the bridge. A great place to fish or just hang out.

I'm not a fisherman, but I have joined friends who do early morning walks by the park, in the park, under the bridge and back. With the series of walkways, one can walk under the elevated bridge to the north side of the roadway...then back again. If you do fishing, there is a bait shop with supplies. Rest rooms are there. Bait shop sells snacks and soda. I believe it is a free boat launching spot for those who want to fish on the Intracoastal Waterway (Halifax River).If you are a walker, you can also go down South Beach St. for a good mile or more, For a relatively short walk, stop at Ames Park...another little city-maintained area. There's a short pier that extends into the Halifax River. Great...if you just want to sit in the sun for a while.
