Live nearby and have golfed here for years occasionally and i think i have seen it all. Today March 1st 2015 delayed about 20 mins.Just one marshall who looks like General Birkhalter and no one to gauge rate of play. Lots of women golfers who are novice therefore you cannot take 150 strokes and play in 4 hrs. Too many walkers who have no concept of time. Waited on every hole. Quit after 4hrs. and 10 mins on hole 13. If you got clubs for xmas come here. At 5;30 the clubhouse was closed so had to piss in parking lot and I don't drink. When i was waiting on 1st tee I had to help organize groups as starter was in parking lot looking for 2 goofs who were 20 mins late.FORGET ABOUT THEM! I think i will take up Badminton.
Played the back nine this morning. A little chilly at 8 in the morning with the cold front, but that meant we played with no one around us.Course was fun to play, not too many water hazards. The sand was decent to play out of. The greens were in good shape. One green was top dressed but also putted true with decent speed. The price was very good at just over $20 for riding nine. One member in group rented Nike clubs for $25.Would definitely play again.
Played here on a week day over the christmas holiday. It was not crowded at all and was able to get out a half hour earlier than my tee time. Staff were very polite and helpful, though there are no facilities (no range, weak shop, but there is a putting green). The course is in nice condition (though the greens could use a bit more attention) and well manicured. There are some interesting holes and nice scenery along the way. Not much water and it isn't the most challenging course. But for the price, and ease of getting on it is definitely worth it.
They overbooked. We waited for two groups on every hole. Slow, slow, slow. And to top it off the clubhouse was closed when we were done golfing. We would have come in and bought some snacks and drinks. Although it was a nice course we won't be back.
Course is reasonably priced. The layout is well designed, and there is good variety between holes. The fairways and greens are great! I'm a 90's golfer and a "snowbird", and really appreciate the playable rough, especially around the greens. With the palm trees and other landscaping, it gives a great feel of Florida. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are 2 nets for warm ups. You'll be happy you played here.
We were only in town for a week, called for a tee time and rented three sets of clubs for one day of play. The staff was great, service was excellent and the course was perfect for our caliber of play. We will go there again for spring break.
I have played this course many times over the past 5 years. It was quite shaggy when we left in June and I had decided it wasn't worth playing. However, I played here yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised. This is a municipal course that gets a lot of play and at $35 it draws a lot of players who don't normally respect a golf course (fill divots, repair ball marks, don't drive in wet spots, etc). In spite of this, the greens are really in great shape. Much better that other area municipal courses. The fairways show that they were overseeded last month and roll out very nicely. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The hot dogs are OK....they are plump with fairly thin skin and hang out the ends of the bun. The decaf coffee is quite good. You can walk this course and many of us do. That doesn't impair the rate of play and we were able to get around in under 4 hours without pushing it. We are going back next week.
For a public course it is in very good shape and kept up. We have golfed there 3 times in October and November every thing was well maintained. The starters are very and friendly. there is ice water at every other hole. prices are fine but come January they will go up like all the other places.
I have played this course many times and always enjoy it. It is suitable for all levels. It is one of the few golf courses that allow you to walk, which I love. Ice water is provided on every second hole.
Good layout, but greens and fairways need water. The rain we had at the end of Jan. should help. I will give it another try in Feb. the staff is friendly and the food was fine.
Reasonable rates and a good golf course for the older golfer. There are specials that include lunch and 2 free beers. Dh plays there twice a week with his buddy.
I've played this course on previous visits to this area and it was in very poor condition, however it has had quite a lot of work done to tidy it up but also on the greens, which were excellent. The green fees at around $30 were also competitive.
Plenty of chances if you play the course, get out of sorts and the score will rise! Weather was nice and course was in great shape for the fall.
Great municipal golf course. Challenging. Be prepared to give a lot of information to get a tee time. Well maintained course. Right behind the Pittsburgh Pirates Spring Training Fields.
River Run is a public golf course that is very well maintained. The one they are lacking is a decent club house and a place to eat more than just hot dogs. The staff is very friendly and our group enjoys playing there. I just wished they would make up their where the number one tee is going to be.
