Enjoyed the beach and a nearby gift shop. We didn't get to shop around as we were on a time schedule headed out of state. Great pit stop to walk the beach and spend time and money in the shops and cafés.
Very commercial - retail stores and themed restaurants. Can walk on the pretty beach. Worth it if you're near there.
try to find parking in the residential area- its much less crowded than jacksonville beach and has good waves and clean sand. dogs are allowed on the leash, though many come with out leashes. you are allowed to grill on the beach as well.
It's a laid-back suburb of Jacksonville, but with a toned-down atmosphere. Unlike the rest of Florida's eastern coast, there are no high-rise condos on the beach, although one older hotel, the Turtle, is the lone exception, but it rises only 7 or 8 stories. The beach is continuous that stretches from Mayport to the north and extends uninterrupted past St. Augustine to the south. There are no concession stands of any sort on the beach itself. At low tide, the hard-packed sand is perfect for walking, jogging or even bicycling past some spectacular old and newer private homes. If you want to find an uncrowded beach, good food at numerous restaurants, and a lazy lifestyle, Atlantic Beach just might be your place!
Not too bad, too cold to swim, but enjoyed walking along. Gulf beaches are prettier, but this would be ok for a day of swimming
Atlantic beach is great. Not a crazy crowd just a lot of laid back families and singles out to enjoy the beach. Clean and well manicured. Good access and great infrastructure. Plenty of restaurants, bars and parking. Watch the big ships and yachts headed into and out of Mayport a few miles North. Great sunrise. Good place to greet the dawn and count your blessings.
Great dog friendly beach with lots of shops and restaurants! Even though it was freezing, my two dogs had a blast running & splashing in the water. We also found lots of cool seashells to collect. There were plenty of things to do and we will be back for sure!
Great place to stroll around in the late afternoon/early evening. It was Nov, so not crowded but still nice enough to walk around and put our feet in the water.
This is the ocean. This section has soft white sand and lots of shells for collecting. Nice resorts and restaurants along here.
I was disappointed with the water in this area. It was not very clear and the beach was average at best. If you don't mind driving a little further, go to a nicer beach as this one did not seem safe.
Light jacket weather but lots of sun on that long fishermans warf.We loved it. Make sure you wear a hat as there are lots of birds trying to steal the fishermans bait. Good restaurants along the beach area.
What can I say...it's the beach! Enjoyed walking on the pier (cost $1.00 per person). We were here in January so no walking in the water. Nice beach with several restaurants you can walk to.
A lot of things to do and see. Clean and safe area with restaurants and clubs- nice nightlife. I really like the improvements to the area from my visits there a few years ago.
Gray sand and water. If you are looking for a crystal clear water with white sand, that is not your place. Very short sand area, but calm and peaceful, perfect place to go with kids. The beach was desert, it was early December, it was very good, but maybe it would be different during the high season. All in all it is a nice place to walk and run in the morning and stay for a few days, no more than 3 nights, otherwise it can be very boring. Stayed for 3 nights and it was perfect, didn't have sunny days, temperature was around 60F. Not sure if the sun would change my opinion.
the beach was great, the fishing piers was great ,people were surfing ... i enjoyed it very much. and the weather was beautiful..
