The Cummer Museum and Gardens took my breath away. Even though I visited in February, the gardens were absolutely beautiful - I spent as much time there (on a cold day!) as I did inside enjoying all of the extraordinary art. Each room takes you into another journey and each one with it contains a beautiful destination of artistic talent. The same can be said for the three thematic gardens, each exquisite and unique. Please note that you could plan your visit around a lunch, since they have a very beautiful restaurant on premises too.

It isn't huge, but it's decent. You'll find it has wonderful gardens that you can enjoy, and the exhibits are worth taking a look at. Look for any specials, and expect to spend an hour or two but no longer.

My daughter moved to Jax and we all met at The Cummer Museum to view the art and the gardens. It is right on the St John River and has a great view. The art is an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures and historical pieces. We spent about 90 minutes touring the grounds and the galleries. Well lit, well placed and not too overwhelming. Also, it is free on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. A delightful few hours.Parking at the actual Cummer parking lot is limited so you may have to walk from a more distant parking spot but it isn't too far.

This is a lovely moderately-sized museum. The exhibits and collections are well curated, and the outdoor gardens are a special bonus. We were there for the "Reflections" exhibit that had just opened, and it was so creatively done. We ate a nice lunch at the cafe' and explored the children's area too. It is quite impressive. If I had school-aged children, this would be a must-see. Lots of interactive learning opportunities.

I have visited the Cummer since my childhood, and continued to be impressed by the scope of the collection and the diversity and excellence of the exhibit.

Nice little hidden gem, it's got a great collection. There are many different galleries and its a little quiet retreat to see some great art. You should give it a try. Not to mention it's right on the river. Nice stroll there too.

We were glad we found the Cummer when doing an Internet search. It's a beautiful art museum with gorgeous gardens overlooking the St. John's River. We were lucky enough to spot a Dolphin in the water while strolling the gardens. The gardens had a variety of blooming flowers. We would like to visit in the spring or summer to see the Wisteria arbors in bloom. The giant Live Oak tree is amazing. There were several groups of school children visiting and they were enjoying the interactive section of the museum. There is a lot of history behind the museum so be sure to watch the video located in the Art Connections Interactive Center. We spent over three hours here which included having lunch at the cafe. It's a wonderful collection of 18th, 19th & 20th century art. Our admission was waived using our reciprocal garden benefit. There is a free parking lot across the street from the museum.

The museum was lovely as were yge gardens, even in late February. The Reflections exhibit was my favorite and really lent a sense of place, of making yhe museum decidedly of Florida and not just another art museum. Its location/view of the river further the sense of place. A great introduction to the city and well worth the time (abt 1.5 hrs) and money.

The Cummer Museum "punches above its weight class." For a small museum, it has an impressive collection of artwork. I went with my daughter and grandson and thoroughly enjoyed the collection. There is also a fairly large interactive children's section that will intrigue the little museum-goers in your group. The gardens along the St. Johns River are impressive and offer a quiet place to relax. Don't miss the Cummer!

This is definitely a must see local art museum for those who wish to spend a quiet afternoon browsing the collections and the well manicured gardens. The Cummer is one of several local art museums open for public viewing and is well worth the price of admission. If you enjoy photography, take your camera for some shots of the lovely English garden on the river located behind the museum.

My in-laws live in Jacksonville, so we visit the city often. This year, we joined a local botanical garden, and The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens was on the list for our reciprocal membership. I checked out some of the other reviews before heading over there, and couldn't agree more with the positive feedback on this place. We went quickly through the art collections, probably spending the most time in the modern art section. There is also a great kids area, which is really like a small version of a children's museum, with plenty for the kids to interact with. Then, probably our favorite feature, is that they have these little art kits with a small clipboard with paper, watercolor paints, a brush, a paper towel, and a water bottle (not for drinking), and then you take those out into the garden and the kids can paint. The day we visited, the weather was beautiful, which made it that much more enjoyable. Look forward to returning!

The Cummer is always a pleasure. The staff are always helpful, the collections are impressive. Also, there is an ever-changing section that has an impressive display. It is a relaxing and quiet museum. If you have little ones, the children's area is interactive and great fun for all. The gardens are amazing. Spring explodes in March and the gardens are full of blooms and giant trees. The garden overlooks the St Johns River and is simply stunning.

True Beauty! The Cummer is a double treat! Wonderful way to spend part of your day inside and out! The art is always interesting and the gardens are so delightful-can't wait to go back when they are in full bloom!

I love visiting the Cummer - it's beautiful and a restful, welcoming experience. The collections are amazing - there are significant works there! I recently attended a presentation about Nazi-looted Art, and am so proud of the Cummer for doing the right thing in being transparent about their works, and open about the ownership. My favorite part of the museum is the section that looks like a home, because the patroness wanted people to see great works displayed in a natural, home setting as she felt they should. And the gardens are just gorgeous, with a terrific view of the river. The gift shop is lots of fun, too, with really unique merchandise to complement the gallery. The Cummer is a great way to spend the day!!
