The beach is shell rather than the white powder of siesta beach, but if you want to escape the crowd, give this beach a try.
We are booked into Turtle Beach Camp Ground for two weeks. It's rustic but has all the amenities. This small Lee County park has a FAB beach, FAB sunsets (we campers gather in the evening for "conch blowing" as the sun goes down and we sing our camp song. There are three restaurants within an easy walk. One can rent kayaks and pontoon boats at the marina across the street. We LOVE this place!
I have visited many beaches. This is an absolutely amazing beach. It is really a must visit if you are a beach lover.
really enjoyed turtle beach - just walking the beach, fishing, swimming and collecting shells, and enjoying the beautiful sunsets
erosion has washed alot of the beach away and there isn't the nice sand of Siesta Beach, but lots of people go fishing in that area and seem happy
Good picnic and play area for children...clean public toilets!Beach is steep with coarse sand but seems good for water sports and fishing
This is a quieter spot than Siesta Beach up the road. There is always a parking spot and while the beach is busy, you can always find a place to set up stuff. As well, there is shade if you are willing to move off the sand which I have no,problem to do. So many people you see on the beach are bright red. What are they doing to themselves??This beach has washrooms, barbequed, tables, a lagoon for small watercraft and a long beach for walking. It once had the same white sand as Crescent and Siesta beach but when the sand was washed away by erosion, the sand became coarser and darker. Too bad! But still a lovely beach. In February and March, it is almost impossible to find parking at Siesta Beach. Save yourself stress. Come here instead.
Very discouraged. The area is SO crowded don't plan on seeing any beach or water if you come here. We drove around for over an hour and gave up. Roads are congested and the cycling is unsafe as the roads are so crowded and the bike shoulder is very narrow. Also there is nothing to see as there are SO many hotels and homes and condos.
Two years ago we ate here and after our latest stop we remembered why we would not go back again, except for a drink. Our meals were poorly prepared, blackened grouper was hardly blackened. Service was barely adequate, and service staff were more interested in their own personal conversations. When we left not one staff member said a thing to us. So why did I tip at 20%, asking myself that question.
It is very quiet and is mostly locals that come here. Love it!! Always see a wedding on the beach on Saturday's in the spring.
We visited many beaches , Turtle beach was Awesome . Water so clear and lots of sand dollars to be found .
Very nice beach, and less crowded than some of the other beaches. Plenty of free parking and access is easy. Good shelling and easy to walk, also has a boardwalk with benches for relaxing and watching the waves.
If you want peace and quiet, avoid Siesta Beach and head the northern end of the key, to Turtle Beach. There is plenty of free parking and restroom facilities. We had a good long walk along the beach collecting shells and passed only a handful of people. Make sure you take a picnic though as there are no bars or restaurants at this end of the key
No where near as wide as Siesta Key, but much fewer beach goers. Closer to bars and restaurants too. It's a great place to begin a flat, easy bike ride.
Turtle beach is nice and quite and not crowded! We went to Turtle beach one day because the traffic to get close to Siesta Key beach was too long!! This beach has a darker colored sand and plenty of shells!!! The sand is soft!! The beach also has bathrooms and is close to the marina and a restaurant too. There are also some herons that can be feed by hand, they beg from the fisherman. Nice beach go there and see.
