I wish we had found this earlier in the day. Nice falls and it looked like great easy hiking. The signage to find it was not the best and after a frustrating time trying to find it we stumbled on it late in the day. Lots of parking.
We stopped on our way up to Stowe. The falls had lots of water coming down since the weather had been raining for the past few days. The hike down the river from the picnic area is pretty easy. The path is well laid out and not long. There are other hikes which we didnt have time for. I would drop in if you go by there for a quick picnic lunch or if want to take an easy hike.
Marked on the highway department state map. This was a free and pleasant side trip off VT 100 trip. Beautiful series of small falls with a nice bridge over the center section. Non flush toilet is available as well as a picnic area.
We stop here every time we take a trip to VT. Always so peaceful, no matter how many people are there. The trails are relatively easy to walk, but there are some tricky spots. Worth spending some time, just to enjoy the view.
If you are looking to stop and stretch your legs fine. However if you are looking to hike and see more falls, forget it. You just walk in the woods uphill and then down and basically see nothing but woods.
..but we stopped for a few minutes. Lots of butterflies, and very relaxing atmosphere. It was on our way, so we didn't really stay long and explored the trail.
Texas Falls has a wonderful, but moderately difficult trail that allows full views and different perspectives of this small mountain waterfall and beautiful, rock-lined stream. Sitting and standing perches along the roaring waters provide a great backdrop for meditation.
I wouldn't call them falls per se but a grand series of chutes and cascades. My wife and I spent about an hour watching the water flow. Very spectacular! I could have stayed longer. This is an attraction worth going out of your way to see. Highly recommended.
a narrow twisting canyon 300 feet, which constricts down to 3 feet 5 inches. There are good potholes, minor cascades and falls. The area is well maintained by the Green Mountain National Forest with bridges over the river for best viewing. Off the beaten path downstream is another waterfall for the true waterfall enthusiasts.
The rushing water and small gorges make this a beautiful spot to visit. It's nice to take a walk in the quiet woods and look at the moss-covered landscape.
A little side trip off the main highway, with a woodland scene with pretty water fall.
This place has suffered over the last couple of years from flood damage but it has not detracted from it's beauty and the the actual "Falls Walk" has been totally re built. Fantastic walking alongside the river and good picnic areas with covered facilities in case of rain - this is Vermont after all!
We would stop here again! There is a hiking loop in the woods behind the falls. We went in the spring, and there was no view of the water once you got up into the woods. The sign said that the hike was easy, I would say it was a little harder, but it was early in the season, and I think the trails hadn't been cleaned up yet. The falls are beautiful! You can walk out along a bridge to see the water, and there are a couple other areas for good viewing. We ate out picnic lunch out on a huge boulder in the middle of the river - it was really pretty. The only downfall then were that none of the restrooms were unlocked - again, because of our timing in the season.
My family and I spent the aftrenoon at Texas Falls and we took the hiking trail. We thought it was very " family friendly" and the water falls were beutiful! We later enjoyed a picnic lunch just above the falls were you will find picnic tables and restrooms available. I suggest this for alovley afternoon trip for all of the family to enjoy!
