Went their for the tour and samplings and was amazed! Best maple syrup I ever had and I didn't even like maple syrup! Dining room now open as well. You can even get there by snowmobile!

We just happened to drive by this place and decided to stop for a break. The free samples are great for helping you decide what to buy. Everything we tried was yummy and ended up buying quite a bit. The owner's father was working in the shop this day and he was very kind and we enjoyed talking with him about how the business got started. Nice stop if you're in the area.

If you're in the furthest reaches of the Northeast Kingdon of Vermont, which would be Rt. 114 between Norton and Caanan, stop by this maple syrup shop. The staff is very friendly and will gladly start you off with a sampling of their product followed by a tour of the sugar house. April's syrup is top-notch and perfect on ice cream or pancakes.

What a treat this place is! April is the hard working owner of Aprils Maple and she puts out a wonderful product. We shipped home about a gallon of syrup after they gave us a tasting! Her dad works there, too and was so genuinely kind and helpful. To make things even more welcoming, her very friendly dog greets you as well. The tour of the facility was short and interesting, and really makes it worth the stop. But don't overlook their ice cream offerings! Fantastic! What is it with New Englanders and ice cream, anyway? Top quality products seem to be everywhere. One other thing, Aprils Maple is located along a pretty stream and has a nice outdoor area good for a picnic (bring your own lunch).

Our leaf peeping drive on Route 114 in Vermont's scenic Northeast Kingdom took us north almost into Quebec and then east almost into New Hampshire. Roadside attractions are so scarce in this remote, border-hugging area of Vermont that we were frankly surprised to come upon a sign advertising something called April's Maples. Intrigued, we turned into the drive to see what we might see. And boy, am I ever glad we did! More than just a store where you can buy maple syrup and ice cream, April's Maple is a fascinating place where visits are both entertaining and educational. Maple products are produced on the premises, an 800-acre, family owned, sustainably-managed enterprise with many thousands of maple trees and lots of associated equipment and machinery. During a brief tour supplemented by photo exhibits we learned how maple sap is gathered and processed each spring. We also learned how maple syrup is graded, got answers to our questions, and of course, shopped for maple syrup and other maple products to use and gift to friends and family. We didn't order ice cream, but later wished that we did.April's Maples is a visually striking place unlike any I have encountered before. The store, which also serves sugar house functions, is a large wooden structure with a welcoming porch and a sheet metal roof from which a cluster of large chimney-like pipes protrude. I suppose you could call it handsome in a north woodsy sort of way, but what draws your eyes like a magnet is the amazing web of blue tubing that runs among the trees. What you're seeing is a very small section of the tap lines. April's Maple uses more than 60 miles of vacuum tubing to connect the maple trees to the sugar houses. Wow!

Do not miss stopping by April's Maple. It has a gorgeous building, amazing all natural products from their own maple trees, and depending on the season they serve ice cream too! Try a sample of the different Grade A syrups. Don't leave without a great gift for someone special. And to top it off, you are supporting a local family business!
