My two friends and I did not enjoy a single part of this experience. To start with parking is not clearly labeled and other cars blocked ours in. The company takes your drivers license, and then makes you follow them in your car to a parking area. We were not offered life jackets. The bathroom was horrible and in someones house. Once we got to the parking area we were greeted by a VERY rude man who asked like we were stupid for not understanding what was happening after not having anything explained to us. We were forced to get in the vans to drive to the put in. Of course none of this was explained to us. At the put in we discovered they didn't pack enough tubes, even though we had to tell them how many we needed. We had to wait while they got more tubes. When the van pulled back in to where we where waiting a staff member told us that we needed to move or the van might hit us! She also told another group that there would be no bugs on the river which was a lie. None of the staff was wearing anything that said Vermont river tubing so it was anyone's guess who actually worked there. We never got a safety talk. My friend fell and cut open his thumb. There was NO staff around in case something horrible did happen! When I called the day before I was told that the river was low but still fun. The water was way to low. We ended up walking basically the whole way there. It took three hours. At the end there wasn't even a worker! There was a rope and nothing said get out here. There was just a pile of tubes. We then drove back to the place. We told them we had an awful time and they made excuses! They said everyone else was having fun, even though they were walking too!

Boring ride, no rapids at all and totally misled by their staff. You have to follow them all over in a van to get to where you are going , leave your car there and then get in their van to go to the beginning. Their ride might be appealing to a 4 year old. We stopped in another tubing place up the road with a different stretch of river afterwards and they explained the differences between the 2 places and we will be going there this weekend ...they seemed pretty awesome and you park right there and tube(with a beautiful field on the river with picnic tables Tweed River Tubing)They had a ton of people returning that we asked a bunch of questions and they all had a great time(some going twice). Looks like we picked the wrong one to try 1st. Lori at Vermont river Tubing seemed clueless ... i dont think she has ever been tubing herself! Dont get scammed by Vermont River Tubing unless you have little kids, then just be prepared for a boring ride!

Don't expect rapids or white water rafting on this trip. If you want a leisurely float down the White River with scenic views, then this is right up your alley. Don't forget to take a small cooler of your favorite beverage and snacks.

Vermont River Tubing is a family affair! Stockbridge Yacht Club Commodore, Fred Wall runs the oldest and best tubing experience in Vermont! It was simple... We parked our vehicle at the ending point on the White River. Vermont River Tubing folks drove our group up river to the drop off point where everyone received a personal flotation device, a sturdy river tube, and safety instructions. We floated along with the gentleness flow of the river for about three hours, from Rochester to the Stockbridge pickup point. This trip is so popular and fun. Oh yes, bring the whole family! This report is not only from personal experience. As Innkeeper of Cobble House Inn, a local establishment, many of our guests travel to the area and include this activity in their itinerary. I just can't wait to go tubing again! Thank you Commodore Fred Wall and all the friendly mates, at Vermont River Tubing, Yay!

...or we would give it a 5-star. It takes AT LEAST 3 hours to complete the float, regardless, so plan snacks, beverages, and clothing appropriately. You will be wet for 3+ hours in a warm river, with ample times of very slow progress, especially when the river is low like this. You start at the big red barn, and drive behind a van to the tube takeout. You then pile into the van and get shuffled to the start, pick up your tubes, and you're on your way. A total blast (in slow motion). We waited for a warm day after it rained, but we waited one day too long (we went 2 days after an inch of rain instead of the day after). The river was quite low (it is late August, after all) and we ended up walking through a very few of the rapids that would otherwise be a lot of fun. In addition, there is a stretch that is at least a quarter-mile long where you end up sitting in your tube and propelling yourself, so you can look forward to a good upper-body workout. That being said, it was a tremendous amount of fun and we did it last year, did it this year, and we'll do it again next year. Just choose your weather very, very carefully. You can call ahead for directions and river conditions (phone number on their website.)
