We were welcomed as soon as we came in and asked if we would like samples. Great atmosphere. Only problem there was limited seating.
Great beer and very good service!!!! Bartender seemed a little disappointed when I said I didn't have a favorite but smiled when I said I liked them all!!
I love the beer and the atmosphere here. The windows into the brewing area make it clear where you are, and I am obsessed with the copper bar top. It is a very Vermont cozy feel. The beer is obviously delicious, and their apparel, while limited, is nice and reasonably priced. The service typically feels friendly, although not super attentive. I would never say they were rude, I would just think working in a brewery, your bartenders would be more enthusiastic about talking about the beers you brew. One time we were there one guy was great and talked to us about the Vermont Beer Passport, the other times though I felt as though they were disinterested. I will definitely keep coming in, and would suggest it as a great stop to anyone in Burlington.
Switchback was a nice stop during our weekend in Vermont. It is in a factory space, but the tasting room is well done and nice to hang out in. They had some great merchandise available too. We did the tasting and it was reasonably priced and great to see what Switchback is all about.
We stopped here as part of our Vermont Brewery Tour (filled the card, got the shirt!) They have a new tasting room and it was very nice. They had four beers to sample, and the samples were reasonably priced. Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Not my kind of beer, but we enjoyed the visit.
Excellent tour guide...worked at facility...complicated process that was explained very well..purchased samples of the three beers...modest cost...enjoyable side trip
Space is a clean-lined, industrial setting, with viewing of bottling area. I love the roasted red, and this past summer they had a wonderful extra pale ale, which was particularly easy drinking. $1 sample sizes, and beer boiled hot dogs makes it a great mid-day-delight pit stop.
This is a great brewery. The location is a little remote in the back of a "factory" but they did a great job with the tasting room. The tasting flights were reasonable and they have plenty of merchandise for purchase. The beer was very good!
We're just passing thru the area and loved switchback ale at local pubs so we swung by the brewery to check out more. The place was packed with lots of other folks enjoying the same. The staff was friendly and quick and the beers were great. We arrived too late for the tour but were glad we came by!
Great all around beers. Very friendly. Very clean pleasant atmosphere. If this brewery could turn into a brew pub itn would be awesome! I enjoyed it.
My wife and I have heard about Vermont being a micro brew mecca and wanted to try some of the local brews. The beer was excellent, really like the extra pale ale. The staff was awesome, their names escape me, but the lady gave us an impromptu tour and was very friendly, and the gentleman behind the bar was friendly and knowledgeable. He even gave me advice on my home brew. Will go again when we come back to Vermont.
Switchback was our favourite brewery in Vermont. The staff was passionate and knowledgeable and clearly enjoyed their jobs. The tour was extensive, but didn't feel long. A particular highlight was seeing the bottling and kegging process on the ground floor. At the end of the tour, staff were extremely generous in their samples and even provided beer fresh from their vats. These guys emulate why people are increasingly attracted to craft beer. I hope they expand beyond their region.
This is a great brewery to visit. They are very friendly and un-commercialized. We had been on a tour of Long Trail and Harpoon and Switchback was by far the best. A bit more intimate, & much more down to earth. Free tour and free tastings on a Saturday...what could be better!
Stopped here on a tour of the breweries in the Burlington area. Had some great tastings and talked with the friendly, knowledgeable staff. Only two beers on tap but we were offered plenty of tastings for free. I believe they offered tours of the brewery every hour but you could see most of it through a window in the tasting area.
Their IPAs are very good; try some of their beers then buy a groller to take home or just next door to the very good pizza place.
