We visited the Homestead on a drizzly day and were the only visitors. The exhibits in the visitor center were informative, and we enjoyed viewing the Homestead, but it was really strolling the grounds we enjoyed most (even in the rain), which one can do pretty much anywhere in Vermont. I would say allow an hour to 90 minute tops (unless there's a special event going on) to see pretty much all there is to see.

This is a cool historic place, forgotten and discovered a couple of decades ago to be the most probable farmstead of one of the founding fathers of the state of Vermont. Restored homestead, guided tours, events, walking trails, etc.

This was a fun way to learn about Ethan, see his homestead and watch a film about his life and living in these times. The staff were excellent and made this a fun day, thank you, thank you.

While visiting Burlington and Lake Champlain area recently my family and I took a tour of the Ethan Allen homestead. The $8/person tour was a little pricy for a very cheesy 15 minute video describing the history of Vermont and Ethan Allen. The video was actually more of a slideshow as it did not have live characters but rather people dressed in period clothing. The tour of the original house is interesting and the tour guide provided ample information about the house and some of the artifacts inside the house. The surrounding grounds are very beautiful and picturesque. We enjoyed the visit but I didn't feel the $8/person admission was a very good value.

My husband took the tour and enjoyed it. I just walked the trails worth our dog. Beautiful. Would visit again if in the area.

Great little historical spot that seems to be run entirely by volunteers. I'm sure the tours offered vary in quality, but our guide was terrific and enthusiastic. Plus Ethan Allen is a fascinating, complex subject when you learn about him. A great little 1-2 hour investment of time!

This is an excellent way to discover the history of the area and the one man who made it all happen-Ethan Allen. Unfortunately, it a season site and is closed after October.

Thank you for the response about our guide, she is very dedicated to our site! As far as our interpretation video is concerned, we are in the midst of raising money for a brand new one that will incorporate new technology and new research. We hope you will come back and see us again when it is complete!

Toured Ethan Allen Homestead last week with my husband. We really enjoyed our tour. Our guide was very informative and we learned a lot about Ethan Allen.

We stopped in at the museum not knowing much about Ethan Allen and left with some interesting information. The property and gardens are beautiful and the home is well maintained. Our guide gave us a short history of Ethan Allen and Vermont and also some fun facts about life in the 1700s. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn more about local history.

The Ethan Allen Homestead is a beautiful property. We toured the entrance to the site where photos of the land and the homestead are on display. We saw the beautiful garden and learned many things about the way the family lived. There is a nice area where families can enjoy their picnic lunch under an open roof that has picnic tables. We brought our 9 year old grandson and he was amazed that each morning the water had to be brought to the house in two wooden pails from the river below. We took a photo of him with the yolk on his shoulders that held the two buckets. Our tour guide was most knowledgeable and pleasant to answer questions. It was obvious he loved his job and he spent an extra half hour with us after the tour concluded to answer our questions. We bought several books about Ethan Allen, one of which was geared to the level of a 9 year old. We would love to return in the near future.

We take feedback very seriously, and always strive to give the best guest experience. Please feel free to contact us to offer more suggestions on how we can serve you better.

We picked a very COLD day to pay a visit and unfortunately the Museum is only open May-October according to the signage but we stil were able to walk through the snowy-icy track to view the small but quaint homestead. You really got an authentic glimpse of what life was like in rural New England

Visited on an icy December day as part of the Burlington History Tour, a wonderful way to experience the city. As the museum is not open at this time of year, we just walked out to the homestead.Gary, the tour operator gave us great background on the house and property as well as Ethan Allen & the Green Mountain boys. We would love to come back & see the museum when the weather is more cooperative.

In a short time you can see Ethan Allen's homestead and enjoy a wonderfully stocked book and gift shop. Sometimes there are reenactments here and author talks about books connected with the period. These, too, are wonderful. Don't miss this place.
