The inside gardens are very beautiful and change to fit the season. The $2 entrance fee is a very small price to pay to see such beautifully arranged flowers, trees and shrubs. The gardens are a must see, especially during the Christmas Holidays!
Our grandsons enjoyed the grounds. I enjoyed the foliage and grounds and lunch was very good. I will return again!
I have been to all the Metroparks and this place is special. The landscaping is beautiful. It feels very safe. Great for all ages. The seasonal displays are very worth the visit and the staff are all friendly and willing to share their knowledge. The walking path is completely shaded if you walk it in the mornings. It is only 0.6 miles though, so I am hoping they have plans to lengthen it. The cafe is an added bonus with special events also. I thought it would be a quick visit the first time I went and ended up there for the afternoon!
Even though it was quite warm outside, the butterfly house and conservatory were quite pleasant to meander around. I took my parents when they visited and the staff was very helpful. They have taken advantage of every nook and cranny of space they have, placing unique plants everywhere. The cafe was being used by ladies playing cards and families eating. There is a beautiful patio outside where one can relax as well. Next time, we will take advantage of the hiking trail. The facility has been open for 3 years and they have done a very nice job. The gift shop has a great variety with wonderful metropark prices. There is a $2 fee to walk around the conservatory inside.
This is a very pretty little set of gardens and small trail. I wouldn't drive far to get to it, but it is perfect if you live nearby. The butterfly house is fun and the indoor conservatory is a nice escape (especially when the weather is bad). There is only a fee for the indoor exhibit, but the gardens are free. I would like to point out that they keep making it better and better every time we go and that I know they still have more plans for the future. Also a great place for a smallish get together - shower, etc.
I shared a delicious lunch in the lovely café at the Miller's Nature Preserve with friends. The gift shop has some unique nature related gifts with birds, butterflies, frogs, and lovely greenery on stationary, small and large statues and jewelry. The aviary has unusual plants to see and purchase as well as a cactus area. The butterfly house will open in mid June which I'm looking forward to. I plan to return again this summer and take my husband with me. Enjoy a half day of relaxation with friends and/or family.
We live about 5 minutes from Miller Nature Preserve. I've taken my grandson there to see the Butterfly House last summer which was really beautiful. Today we went to their Easter Buffet. Never ate there before but the buffet was very well stocked with an assortment of breakfast and dinner menu items. Eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, omelets, peel and eat shrimp, smoked salmon, ham, beef and pork. A few things could have been done better. There should have been some mashed or scalloped potatoes and maybe a vegetable like corn or green beans to go with the dinner items. Also the adults were served drinks in covered plastic cups like we were children. That would have been fine for the two kids in our group but It would have been nice to have our drinks served in better cups or glassware. All in all in it was a nice experience and the atmosphere was pretty. Hopefully, they'll read this and maybe improve for future events. Not sure if there is wheelchair access. You'll need to call.
Temperature in the 70's all winter long. Gets a little hot in the summer. Many tropical plants in conservatory. Cost $2. Orchid Café has really good lunches. Call ahead to make sure it's open because they close for private parties.
Have traveled around the US and found may interesting places. It is always great to find a very interesting place in your own back yard. The nature preserve is unique and the displays change out depending on the season. The programs offered are for all age groups and very educational. There is a cafe located on the site and the lunch menu is superb with many options. The chef who manages this cafe brings a lot of creativity and ingenuity to the food service. Highly recommend this gem in our own back yard.
Miller Nature Preserve consists of a lovely greenhouse full of beautiful plants giving it a tropical feel and it has a nice cafe attached. The surrounding grounds are beautiful in fact I rented it for my son's wedding photo's. A nice place to spend an afternoon with friends.
I had a chance to stop and enjoy the wonderful Miller Nature Preserve Sunday, March 24, 2013. I gave myself enough time to read all the information about the plants on display. I was amazed by the desert catctus and all the bonsai plants carefully crafted to delight visitors. The blooming plants and exotic wonders transport you to tropical areas far from Avon. The staff was ready to answer my questions and the gift shop is stocked with so many beautiful selections I have seen nowhere else. I will make a point to visit the Miller Nature Preserve often and enjoy the seasonal changes and colors. From fragrant orchids to carnivorous plants this is a unique oasis of beauty and blooms. Don't miss it!
... And, many more colors! We read a review and on a sunny afternoon drove to Miller road, it was easy to locate this Preserve? We really enjoyed the Staff's help, and the beauty of this nature preserve, both inside and outside. Each section is a delight.
a place to see different plants and trees not grown in our area,,this place will be even nicer when they get the walking paths done, they do have a butterfly house but not open in december
This place has packed a lot of nature into a little area. The flowers are amazing, there are so many different types. The holiday decorations are wonderful, The orchid cafe is a great place to go just by itself.
I took my niece to see the butterfly house and she loved it. She actually started skipping around on the rocks outside and felt special that I took the time to take her there. I hope to visit this place more often seeing that it less than 10 minutes from my house and offers beautiful flora and fauna year round.
