RFL is a very nice and scenic lake in Southern Ohio. Known for excellent bass fishing, sail boating, and water skiing. It has an excellent campgrounds with boat launch and swimming area. The park facilities are in pretty good condition but the communities around the lake are marginal. The lake was opened in the early 1950s and there was no zoning of development resulting in a hodgepodge of trailers and double wides. The non-park services have improved greatly in recent years. I live about 4 miles away and have been using the lake since it opened.

We are fulltime RVer's and came to Rocky Creek to spend a couple of weeks. Absolutely beautiful park, well maintained and friendly staff. Met some amazing people there. We will certainly return to Rocky Fork when in the area again.

One beef, fire rings??? Where are you? Came camping. Luckily briught own stove because apparently people steal the fire rings there. And they don't get replaced often enough. They should make them so they can't be removed! Pretty lake views and good camp store.

Quiet lake. Kind of small. Really shallow compared to other lakes like East Fork. The sail boats are pretty. Not very many power boats on the water. Marinas were nice. People were polite. Grounds were emasculate for a state park. Water had algae and floating weeds. It was breezy and water was chilly; however visibility was plus 6 feet. Okay place for 18 - 20' boats, sail boats, pontoons, and fishing boats. Not too great for cruisers or speed boats. If you're looking for relaxing area with pretty scenery and your boat is between 18 & 20 feet or can run in shallow water, then you'll be ok but you have to constantly check depth readings to maneuver. But if your looking for a place for water sports or a place to play around in the boat, it's probably not the best. Fishing looked okay, but very few coves. Many of the nice quiet waters had idle regulations. Some idle areas were less than 3 feet deep. Deepest part I found was 33 feet in middle of lake. No depth warnings on waters. Ramps were small and docks short and low. Excellent place to kayak. Trailer parking was difficult as there weren't many spots created for parking with trailers. We had to parallel park taking up multiple spots. Boat ramps were angled with drop off at end of ramp. Algae makes ramps slick. Overall it was peaceful and quiet and clean and that's hard to find at a lake. Lake homes were beautiful. Grounds were kept nice. Socially the area had experienced boaters. Didn't see any boaters being towed in or barely running.

This is a nice campground, with sites on the water. However, to get first row they book in advance... But overall , this is a very nice park. However the campground host appears to be unfriendly and not social. We saw him on several occasions, and he did not speak. The only thing we continually saw him do, was to hurry to a vacated campsite, so he could retrieve their unused wood... My definition of host, means to " make people feel welcome and being hospitable". We rented a boat from marina and had a very nice day on lake. There are a lot of Canadian geese, so the campground has an abundance of geese droppings.

Rocky Fork used to be the place to go for some recreational fun. There are not as many picnic tables as a matter of fact there are none in some areas. There are no garbage cans, you have to take your trash out with you. If you just go there to walk, it is nice for that. The state has cut way back on cleaning, mowing, etc.

Rocky Fork is a somewhat small park but that means you have some elbow room and a chance to enjoy clean facilities, a nice swim beach, nice close in parking to the beach and picnic areas. Except for "Thunder in the Hills" days it is a great family park that provides a chance to enjoy nature and just relax.

Our family has visited a Rocky Fork for many years! It started out as "ok" but since then they have made it so much nicer! It has a great beach area to swim. Plenty of room to sit on your towels and have a BBQ under the shade trees! Nice parking all paved and easy access to the beach area. The campgrounds are awesome! Plenty of camp sites and again all paved. There are the typical little "general" stores close by that sell the last minute emergency items you may need. I recommend this state park to everyone.

Ohio is blessed with a number of excellent man-made lakes. We don't care for "Thunder in the Hills," and avoid the lake at that time.Otherwise Rocky Fork is a great family day trip, and we do enjoy sailing.

Campground:Great campground. Not too crowded, a lot of options to satisfy most campers, big lots, small lots, some are pull through, most are not. A lot of trees, so you can get anything from full sun to full shade. Everything is easy to find and signage is good. most of the parking pads are slightly off level, but nothing that can't be fixed with the standard leveler jacks.General Store:Nice little place, they have some decent quality and decent price clothing with the park name on it. A very good selection of camping stuff, and all the stuff you forgot to pack. did not try any of the ice cream or goodFacilities:Overall, relatively clean, Similar to any other Ohio state park, they are Spartan in nature, but functional and well lit. See below for bathroom concerns. There are several playgrounds, and all seemed in very good condition. There is also an amphitheater, although no activities on the weekend we went.Parking, boat ramps, and boat slips all good, nothing worth noting.Lake:We came here to kayak. The lake at the campground is generally shallow and is no wake for a good stretch. This is a huge lake and we kayaked the lower 1/3. We made it past the fishermans wharf by a quarter mile or so. The eastern shore has a lot of inlets and is fun for paddling. The fishermen also like this area. The western edge is a little more mundane, but the heavily wooded shoreline was changing colors and was still nice to look at. We saw a lot of turtles, and heron. Schools of fish congregated in the shallow inlets on the eastern shore.Watch out for . . .There are two or three "shower houses" that include bathrooms. There are also 7 or 8 "bathroom only" structures around the campgrounds. The shower houses contain soap and electric hand dryers. The other bathroom only bldgs. do not have soap, any type of hand drying or toilet seat covers. Be sure to carry your own soap and paper towel if you use one of these.Skunks and raccoons are frequent night visitors, do not leave any food or trash outside, not even the sticks you roast marshmallows on, otherwise you will have visitors. You are very very close to the Hillsboro airport, so don't be surprised if you hear small aircraft revving their motors for take-off. Even late at night or early in the morning.OverallNot my favorite lake to kayak, but the campground and surrounding make it nice enough to visit again.

We enjoy being able to rent a boat and fish the lake. The lake is always clean and the park well maintained.

My family went there to hike on the short trails. The park is very clean and nice. The campground check in and store was convenient and helped us. It was super close to town and the trails were great for us with all different ages in the family.
