Visited Kelleys Island (Lake Erie Vacation) for the first time in August. We had a great time. One thing we really liked was the Gem Mining Station (they call it a sluice) where you can pan for gems. It is located in Caddy Shack Square on Division Street in the center of town inside the putt putt grounds. It is more set up for kids, but the wife and I had a blast and ended up with a lot more loot than we anticipated! My wife is going to have a necklace made from a green rock that we identified as an Emerald in the rough. If we had the kids I know they would have loved it so next year, it is a must stop. They also had a shop where you buy the "rich bags of dirt" for the sluice and we picked up a few excavating kits for the kids to take back. My wife found this silver "Kelleys Island" shaped charm necklace which she says she likes to wear to remind her of our visit. We are already planning to go again next year.
