Obviously this is not a destination you would hop a plane to go see. However if you are in the area you have to stop in to see it. It is a little one room display of many hundreds of pencil sharpeners....what else can you say. I went in out of curiosity and spent 15 minutes or so looking at the collection. It is near the information and Visitors Center so it is convenient. Interesting and quaint.
I recently travelled to the US to visit the Paul. A Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum after visiting the Cumberland Pencil Museum in the UK, where I was given a free pencil. Sadly, it broke but thanks to the Paul A. Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum, my prayers were answered and I was able to sharpen it. It's this kind of customer service that makes the Paul A. Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum worth visiting for any pencil user. Whilst I was at the Paul A. Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum I was offered a guided tour and I was able to find out everything there is to know about pencil sharpeners!!!! I even came away with a free box of pencil sharpeners! (Stolen of course, I may have a problem...)
Just a neat tiny place beside the visitor's center. We enjoyed this, and the visitor's center is very complete and a pretty place to stop and rest for a bit. No charge, but donations are accepted.
We stopped at the Hocking Hills Visitors Center and found this little place by accident. It was free to enter and holds an interesting collection of pencil sharpeners of all types. Neat to look at, spent about 10 minutes here.
The pencil sharpener museum was written in all the books and ads for hocking hills so we thought we'd stop..........very cool! Everything from Jesus to a toilet!! Who knew! Stop and smile and take pictures!!!
If you have a collection like this, here's an idea of what to do with it! A little shed with this man's collection of pencil sharpeners. Organized by theme. Cute, quick visit at the Hocking Hills Welcome Center
This is a quirky little building (with a/c) containing an unbelievable number of pencil sharpeners . . . you may be surprised how many you recognize from your childhood! Thank you Mr. Johnson for sharing your amazing collection! This is right outside a visitor's center which has some very nice volunteers who will give you all kinds of help and suggestions. Amazing that there is no charge for any of this, or the state park....this is a great family place to visit!
We found the museum as we came out of the visitor's center at Logan, OH. It is a really small building but packed with pencil sharpeners. All colors, sizes, shapes, and different years. Never saw or heard of this before, so we thought we would check it out. The sharpeners were all sorted out on the shelves, even by holidays. Admission is free.
The museum combines too things I love... sharp pencils and odd museums. It's really, really small, but when we really got a detailed look, after the once over, we noticed some awesome little novelties that make this collection pretty impressive.
I couldn't believe there is a pencil sharpener museum. If you're at the visitor center - stop and look. I wouldn't make a special trip though.
Neat stop right by the visitor center. I read information about this our last trip and giggled but when we accidentally visited this while stopping by the visitor center for a map we were impressed. Lots of interesting shapes, wish I could take one home ^^
It's what it says. Do u think this was exciting? U couldn't pay me to go back to this joint! It was the most boring experience of my life I tell you what.
Awesome collection of pencil sharpeners. Must be a few hundred, maybe a thousand. All kinds all styles. All free for the gandering, gawking or one's personal amazement. Located at the Hocking Hills Visitor Center. A must stop if you are in the area.
This fun little museum outside the doors of the Hocking Hills Visitor Center is worth a look. World's largest collection of nicely arranged, interesting pencil sharpeners.
