What a fabulous view watching the river roll by! We stopped by on a Sunday and no wine can be sold so couldn't check out the wine. But a very welcoming atmosphere and pleasant service. I had the buttermilk fried chicken which is made in house with a light, crunchy peppery coating - yum! The accompanying baked potato was good. Hot slaw so so - crispy fresh bacon but slaw could have been crispier - good flavor though. My husband had the rib eye special which was good. But that view and atmosphere -Mmm Mmm!
Minimal wait to be seated. Beautiful view. Sat in middle of restaurant (we couldn't be missed), waitress immediately brought us water and said she would be right back. Thirty minutes later we were still waiting-the other servers were serving other tables where the patrons came after us. We decided to leave. On our way out we let them know at the desk and they only asked where we were sitting.
This is a great restaurant to visit. Be sure you go out on the deck to eat. The view is spectacular. The food is great. Try the Peach Wine Chicken.
They have back covered porch that looks out over the beautiful expanse of the Ohio River. They have cellar tours that you can take and see how they make their own wine. They have a 2 for deal that makes their menu really reasonable. The coconut cake with raspberry sauce is one of the top 5 desserts I've ever had.
Winners of many awards for flavored wines. nice atmosphere for evening dining-lighting, service, piano. Probably the best salad I have ever eaten
I have been stopping at Moyer's Winery for 30 years, since my college days when I would travel home to Huntington, WV from Cincinnati, Ohio. Manchester is about an hour east of Cincy, and two hours from Huntington; one of the many little towns along scenic route 52 which follows the Ohio River. There is a ferry across the river at Augusta, Ky., which drops you close by. I was married there in 2000. Mr Moyer has passed away, but he sold his winery to a group who have kept the charm and improved the ambiance. The prices are very reasonable, and the Vidal Blanc and red Chambourcin varieties are grown and bottled (September) on site. Open all week from lunchtime on, try the "bean with bacon" soup - an original!!
