Sunday I stopped to check out the popcorn museum with my guy. It is located in a historic Post Office Building. We enjoyed checking out the old popcorn machines and carts. They were shiny and beautiful. I learned a lot about corn that I did not know. There are so many kinds of corn that serve different purposes. The popcorn museum is small but it is located in the same place as Historical Society so there are other things to look at. The best part of the visit was receiving a free box of freshly popped popcorn. The Wyandot Popcorn Museum is one of the prettiest displays I have ever seen. Another cool aspect is the large collection of Cracker Jack toys and memorabilia.

We were given a very nice tour and several exhibits were familiar since we grew up in Marion. We did enjoy seeing the different types of popcorn machines.

If you like history and popcorn you will love this place. This is the second time we have been here and have seen alot more this time around. Staff was friendly and very helpful, good place to take your kids and the whole family.

It is easy to miss if you are looking for a sign saying Popcorn Museum. There is one but you probably won't see it due its location and color scheme. So, just look for the big building at Church and State. You will smell the popcorn when you first walk in. But this museum is so much than just a popcorn museum. Much more. So plan to spend some time here. I never knew there were so many varieties of popcorn. This is a must see. You even get to leave with a box of fresh popcorn.

Marion has a wonderful historical society that offers programs I have not seen other places. This spring they had a national exhibit on the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln. There was a dinner where everyone had a historical figure at their table to talk to in character. The panel of Civil War figures was fun and informative to listen to. In Nov. they host a dinner with the presidents and have a wide variety of presidents to dine with and do first person presentations. The popcorn museum is now in the main city museum. all the popcorn poppers have been redone and look great!

The museum tour is in the previous Marion OH post office building...which is loaded w/beautiful architecture & marble, etc. There's an area dedicated to the history of Popcorn production in Marion- that is still alive in two plants today. But it also has great artifacts that relate to the actual history of Marion that is soooo interesting that it could take hours, especially if you end up with the great knowledgable gentleman that we had that day. There's something about having a USA President actually have local roots that makes the mind want to know on a personal level how did he get from birth to the White House & what his personal life was like! The tours of Harding related things in Marion help to visualize the life of the Harding family. The museum does the same thing about the "common" people of Marion County's rich history as well.

You will learn a lot about popcorn and see many different styles of popcorn poppers, as well as get a free bag of popcorn! It is a fun place to "hang out" and browse. The smell will draw you in!

The museum provided a nice folksy tour of the popcorn industry with many interesting machines and vehicles. The popcorn museum resides within the county historical museum so there are also many local artifacts to view as well as a Harding exhibit. The docent explained the different styles of popcorn machines and how the vehicles evolved. The free box of popcorn was a final treat.

If you are in Marion you need to see it. Small, but where else are you going to see a popcorn museum? Some other nice local history besides popcorn. You get a bag of popcorn on the way out.
