Not very large but very peaceful and well laid out. You can park on the highway and trek in or drive to the entrance and be close to all the beauty. They now allow dogs and walking on the grass. Please be responsible. The concerts in the summer are nice.
The Botanic Garden happen to have a Tuesday morning Walk N Talk in the Garden when I was visiting. It was at 7am so I attended. It was a nice walk. There were several other people from out of town visiting also. We didn't learn much on the walk since everyone went at their own pace & were fairly spread out. It was free to attended. The gardens are nice.
This is a nice botanical garden that was created and maintained by OSU. It is not large in size, but has a nice variety of plants in created environments. It is a good place to go for a little outing during the day. The only problem is that you have to walk or otherwise ambulate maybe 100 yards or so from the parking area to the garden. Most of us need the exercise anyway.
We have gone to Stillwater many times to visit family, and never bothered to go to the OSU Botanic Garden. This time we did, and it was wonderful. You can see it in an hour. It is peaceful, and the flowers and design are really gorgeous. A wonderful way to spend an hour.
Fortunately we were in town on a Friday night when the Botanical Gardens held one of their free outdoor concerts. Such a perfect evening, watching the sunset while listening to music. Also walked around the gorgeous gardens with some interesting plantings. A nice casual atmosphere.
Its a simple outdoor university garden. They grow some cool stuff and seem to be good at it. No seasonal show. Nothing too exotic. Not a huge spread. Nice landscaping. Peaceful setting. Pretty flowers and plants. Not at all a bad FREE way to spend a few hours in Stillwater enjoying the weather outside.
I love visiting the Botanic Gardens. There are trees, flowers, shrubs, walking trails, a kids area, a chicken coop, and an area to buy plants. There are also many events that take place there and offer opportunities to learn and have fun. They even have classes for kids! You should stop by and check it out sometime because best of all, it's FREE!
Find lots of interesting plants, shrubs, and trees that do well in Oklahoma. Creative plantings each year make it fun to come and see the highlights. Interesting "Oklahoma Trial" beds for roses and other plants to see what can survive the tough Oklahoma weather and terrain. Nice, quiet, peaceful place to ponder and poke around on your own or with a small group. Bring a notepad to draw sketches and jot down plants you want to try in your yard/garden.
This place is beautiful and its free! Be sure to stop and enjoy the beautiful gardens. It serves as an outdoor classroom for the University and is maintained by college student employees as well as community volunteers.
This is my favorite place to hit in the spring and fall, all the flowers are in bloom and you can see what grows well here. Lots of inspiration! The kids love it, theres a pirate ship they've constructed, rustic but way fun. Also is a interesting set up of chickens, different kinds. There is a childrens garden. Lots lots lots of room to walk and let kids run.
Giving this an average score is being generous. Someday it will be wonderful but there isn't much to it as yet.
The botanic garden in Stillwater is beautiful! They have an arboretum with hundreds of species of trees. Then the south side of the botanic garden has gardens that are absolutely gorgeous and well kept. Lots of walking trails and sights to see.
