brooks wine

Went to Oregon wine country over Thanksgiving weekend. Hit a couple of wineries on a very cold afternoon. We happened upon Brooks, not knowing what to expect. Winery is beautiful overlooking the valley. We sat outside on a large deck with such a great view, even in the cold it was spectacular. The outdoor heater was on, and they even brought our party of 7 blankets! Well that was the end of it, we stayed about 2+ hours enjoying a couple of their Pinots. The Janus and the Temperance Hill were fantastic. The people were so pleasant and the hospitality outstanding. It is out in the middle of nowhere, but we will always find a reason to go back!

Sat on the deck and enjoyed the beautiful views. They brought the tastings out to us. Wines good. Staff very nice and helpful.

A friend and I were off for lunch in McMinville and thought we'd stop off here on our way. What a treat, the building is absolutely amazing and the staff were too.We ended up tasting about 16 different wines.As I am not from the USA they really wanted to show me the deliciousness of the Oregon Rieslings and Pinot Noirs, my true loves.And none of them disappointed. It would be nice to see a Riesling with some resdiual sugar. All Oregon Rieslings are fermented to if not dry, then very nearly. And with the large amount of yummy Mexican and spicy food around, it's nice to have a bit of sweetness to off set the spice. Anyway, we ended up having a starter here - the mixed platter. A fantastic selection of cheese, charcuterie and wonderfully produced nibbles by Sarah, the newly appointed chef/cellar door staff member. Her Rillette was very good and her knowledge of the cheeses was extremely knowledgeable.We spent way longer than anticipated at Brooks and would happily recommend a visit to anyone interested in good wine, good times and a fabulous venue.
