This is a great place to stop on your way through the gorge. Lots of information on the industries of Morrow county. Lots of interactive things to do for young and old. They have a really nice movie theater also.
I agree with the previous positive reviews of the outstanding, educational and fun SAGE (Sustainable AGriculture and Energy) Center of the Port of Morrow. We especially enjoyed the friendly and helpful front desk employee, the Potato Processing Kinetic Sculpture, the simulated Hot Air Balloon Ride, the hydropower, wind, irrigation and Oregon food product displays and trying to drive the tractor. What a delight to find that they were offering free scoops of one of seven delicious Tillamook ice cream flavors on the day of our visit! YUM!
We are traveling through in our motorhome and had an overnight at the Marina RV park close by. Looking for something to do, trip advisor led us here. What a terrific time we had! For just a minimal $5. fee each, it was a very informative and entertaining place! Well worth the visit and would highly recommend to anyone traveling by...Make the stop! Doesn't take but an hour and everyone will enjoy themselves! Our favorite was driving the tractor planting wheat and the hot air balloon ride! And we were lucky enough to be there when they had the cheese curds in stock! Learned a lot about this area! Thanks Tripadvisor contributors!!
This is a hidden gem. Since OSHA has put the brakes on industrial tours, this is a great way to see what businesses in the area are producing. The Sage Center displays products from the area and shows how they are produced, processed, and transported. There are several interactive displays and videos to explain everything. The price of admission includes a meal. We had mac and cheese, a salad, roll, drink, slaw, and a brownie. Kalie Davis is a bundle of energy and a great Sage Center manager. The kids will enjoy this one, too.
We spend summers in eastern Oregon and take day trips to get to know the area better. This first-class center would be a draw in any community and a wonderful surprise in small Boardman. It is definitely kid friendly with the interactive exhibits. We learned about growing, harvesting, processing, and shipping of local products from Morrow County, Oregon. But the info presented is global--from circle watering to tractors that drive themselves using GPS technology. Harvesting is also automated. I was especially excited to see the "circle" milking machine where 75 cows are milked at the same time. Anyone who eats should see how their food is produced! Minimal admission cost.
Wow!!!!! this is a must stop when driving through the Columbia River gorge on I84. The Sage Center just opened in the spring of 2013. It is an amazing display of the agriculture and manufacturing industry that is the economic life blood of this area. Awesome outdoor playground for the kids. I almost had to pry my kids hands off the tractor simulator steering wheel. This is great place to stop and stretch your legs while learning about the about all the products that are produce locally and shipped around the world. Very kid friendly. Parking lot is huge and has designated RV parking.
