Crater Lake is the most amazing shade of blue, a deep cobalt I would call it. Beautiful lake and surrounded by green. Great views of surrounding country including Rogue. A great day trip.

On the drive to Crater Lake National Park, I stopped at one of the overlooks of the Rogue River Gorge. It is quite scenic to see the rushing water.

This is located just off Highway 62 across the road from Union Creek Resort and about 20 miles from Crater Lake. There is no charge to park your vehicle, and it is an easy hike along the gorge with amazing views along the trail. The waterfall at the upper end of the gorge is powerful and a great place to take pictures. As you walk back to your vehicle there is an interesting living stump that is marked with an explanatory sign.

Spent an entire day driving around the lake. The cost of entering the park was cheap for what you get. This place is amazing. If you want a nice place to go outdoors this is a must. I am planning to go camping at the well maintained campsite. The day we were their it was raining off and on. It was still beautiful. A new place for me to find peace in the outdoors. The other tourists were very respectful. Make it a stop.

First, I would like to note that the Rogue River Gorge is not really located in Crater Lake area but nearby in Prospect Oregon. Not sure why the river and gorge are listed together with Crater Lake reviews. The Rogue River Gorge is an interpretive area with 1/2 mile paved trail that takes you to different view points to see the river channeled through the narrow gorge. There are sign boards to explain how the gorge was created. The scenery is so beautiful and the river is quite powerful in places. When you get to the top of the gorge the river is roaring and churning into the channel with small waterfalls. It is really a thrill to see, especially in the springtime. This can be a fairly quick visit, although I would recommend following the whole loop trail to see the gorge. A refreshing stop!

Headed up here early May so it was still snowing and the park ranger said there was little chance that we would actually get to see the water. Had a walk around the top and were disheartened because we couldn't see anything so we started to drive back, just as we were about to go passed the road thats closed off during the winter it cleared up, so out we jumped and were lucky enough to catch a spectacular view of crater lake, its beautiful. Speaking to other people its even better in summer as apparently you can see deep into the crater. Don't miss this

This is not a five star hotel but it is a FIVE Star Rustic Resort. The staff is absolutely wonderful. You will be treated like a 5 Star Guest. The Cabins are delightful and charming. The decks overlooking the Rogue River are great. This is another must see resort. It on the outskirts of Grants Pass. I think they have a website, so check it out!

The river starts on Hwy 62 a little more than an hours drive from I-5. The best views of its beginning are past Becky's pies. Pull off into one of the camp grounds to get a great view of the gorge. There are wonderful views from all of the paths along the edge. Then travel down river past Becky's to the Natural Bridge turnout to the right. Hike a short distance from the parking lot onto some wonderful of the river as it races through a lava flow. To continue your journey of the river, pull into Shady Cove, a little town you passed on the way up and rent a raft. They are all reasonable and will take you up to the fish hatchery where you will begin your float down the river for about 3 1/2 hours. Be ready for some excitement as you shoot some small rapids. Make sure you stay to the right and get ready to pull out as you pass the major bridge as you enter Shady Cove. If you missed the boat ramp you will have a long ride before the next pull out. Good luck and bring lots of sun screen.

One of the most beautiful lakes in the world. It is one of the bluest lakes in the world. The beauty takes your breath away. A must for everyone to see.

Spent a great time with my family going around the lake to its different sites. Interesting video introduction at the ranger station. Cleanest and clearest fresh water lake in the world.

The Rogue River begins as a wild and scenic river within Crater Lake National Park, becomes a favorite fishing stream on its way down to the Rogue Valley where it is a tame city river, then becomes wild and scenic again through the Klamath Mountains until it ends as a great salmon fishing bay in Gold Beach. It's all good, but what I'm recommending today are two very scenic trails at Union Creek, just below Crater Lake. The first is the Rogue River Gorge, on the north end of Union Creek. A paved path takes you along the very narrow 500-foot long gorge, which you could almost jump across were it not for the fences and the possibility of certain death should you end up in the frothing gorge. The second trail is a few miles south of Union Creek and a couple of miles on a paved side road into the forest. A longer trail leads to viewpoints along the Rogue at Natural Bridge where the river passes in and out of lava tubes. Both sites are beautiful and literally give you a breath of cool air on a hot summer day.

If you are driving up to Crater Lake from the south (Medford), a quick stop at the natural bridge and gorge are a must. These two natural phenomna are incredible. Watch for the signs towards the top of the canyon becuase they come up on you quickly. The hiking paths are paved and relatively level. The power of the river and the combination of the river and the lava tubes are awe inspiring. You only need about 20 minutes at each site -- DO NOT MISS THEM.
