I just love the view from the deck. It is nice to relax and drink wine and have a cheese plate. I love taking friends and family here when we are doing a wine tour. A must stop for sure and take a few bottles home.
We were disappointed by this winery. The wines were average to below average when compared to the other great wineries in the area. They have branded two of their wines for the scholarships they support and while I support and encourage the practice, I find it says a bit about the place when the wines need to be marketed for the scholarships they support rather than their own merits. The double decker tour bus from Portland should also have been a clue about the commercial nature of this place. I recommend you stop in only if you have exhausted the other wineries. On a more positive note, the balcony of the tasting room offers great views, especially late afternoon.
We went to Vista Hills with several friends to do a wine tasting. The venue was beautiful but the wine wasn't all that spectacular. I personally did not like any of the wines on the tasting menu. Zero subtlety. The general tasting menus gives you a flight of 5 for $10.
Our afternoon at Vista Hills Tasting Room was well worth the drive. Our server, Mark, delighted us with a fabulous flight of wines and history of the area. After tasting, we stayed and ate our picnic lunch, enjoying a bottle of wine with our friends. I have also been to a summer wedding at this vineyard, if you are looking for a country venue with an unsurpassed view.
Great place. Great wine. Such a lovely place to spend an afternoon on a sunny summer's day. The Pinot Noir is well worth drinking. This is a wine lover's paradise, a garden, treehouse and vineyard of delight. Please see the Vista Hills video on YouTube. I have been here a few times and I love coming back for more. It makes my heart rejoice.
Love finding new experiences, that are right in your backyard. I went wine tasting with friends this weekend and found this winery in a list of recommended places, and verified my upcoming experiences through trip advisor. I was not disappointed. The place was definitely a treehouse with a magnificent view. There was the main lobby with the counter where you can enjoy your wine, or you could walk to the deck or head over to the grand room and enjoy your glass by a nice and warm fireplace. Ryan, our host that Sunday afternoon was friendly and extremely accommodating. His presence made this one of my better experiences in wine tasting. He was attentive to our group and made it a very personable experience for us. a great way to end our day of wine tours. The wines are for a person that enjoys smoky reds, the views do not disappoint, and I can not wait to visit in the summer, early fall when I can enjoy a picnic on the patio. Thanks for the great experience that we won't forget.
There are a ton of vineyards up in these hills. You can't spit from one without hitting another. I don't know if many people stop at all of them but I would guess most just pick a handful. This is one you should be sure to stop at. It was wonderfully relaxed. We did step out onto the deck for a moment but it was a bit too cold to stay out long. What's nice about their set up though is they have large windows inside the lounge area beside the tasting area so we could still enjoy the view and sit by the fire. They even threw an extra log in for us.We didn't feel any of that pressure to buy more than a tasting which is a vibe I occasionally get from some places. Although the wine was very good. As it was our first winery stop on this trip and we weren't especially familiar with pinot noir I didn't realize just how good until several other tastings. The treehouse (2010) in particular stood out so much to me as unique amongst the other pinot noirs we tasted that we went back the next day to buy a bottle.
This tasting room was a real treat. The friendly, informative people working there were a real bonus. We had a wonderful tasting and view of the vineyards.
We visited this winery first and the staff was so friendly. Explained everything really well. They had a nice picnic area, so we each bought a glass of white and had a nice little picnic. Because it was my birthday, the server gave me a sample of their reserve in addition to our flight. And he suggested some other good wineries in the area. Great way to start the day!!
Our favourite winery of the day after tasting at Archery Summit, De Ponte, Panther Creek, and R Stuart. Why? FRiendly staff (but most wineries were friendly) + great view/patio + the previously mentioned LPs on the turntable. Note that you get to choose the vinyl being played if you sign up for the wine club! Adam rolls the hits and Martha treats the tasters like long-time friends. And it doesn't hurt that the wines are delicious AND reasonably priced (for Oregon Pinot Noir). $10 tasting fee + $5 for two reserves.
The grounds here are lovely, but in all honesty I could say that about all of the wineries we visited. There's just something special about the vibe at this place. The tasting room is a building they call the "Treehouse" because it is situated on a hillside in a stand of pine trees. The staff was especially friendly and inviting--especially Martha, who I think I could've stayed and talked to all day. One small thing they do I think improves the ambiance: they play LP's on a turntable. Where else will you find that? There's a lovely deck with patio furniture where guests can drink Vista Hills wine and bring food for a picnic. Vista Hills has a really impressive "pay-it-forward" type program that supports working college students and their funds are matched (or doubled, I think) by approximately ten universities around the country. This was the only winery that we purchased a bottle from to carry home--the Tusculum Pinot Noir 2009. Vista Hills is now my "happy place."
Friendly service, yummy wine, and a view to look at for hours.
Make it a point to visit this vineyard if in the Willamette Valley area of Oregon. Great views, and great Pinot . The folks here are real nice and very helpful in choosing a wine you will love.
Great winery. Wonderful view from their tasting room. Their Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir are fantastic too. Their tasting room building is brand new (6 months old). Nice architecture and you can also rent out rooms for private events. Their outdoor patio overlooks the Dundee hills and vineyards and has some nice patio furniture for sipping on wine. I highly recommend it.
Llegamos a Vista Hills nos atendio una Sra. que ha sido la que mejor nos hablo sobre los vinos. Muy buena comunicadora, y representa un excelente producto.
