爬上了漫长的旋转楼梯,到达顶端踏出去的第一步的风景真是棒极了,绕着Column可看到360度不同的景色,到Astoria非去不可。
You must come to the column and see the 360 aerial view! It's beautiful!!! No elevators so make sure you can climb spiral stairs! A nice work out!
This place is the Eiffel Tower of Astoria...ahem....on a much much smaller scale...not iron...and well..okay okay...but you can't visit Astoria with out visiting the Astoria Column. The column is beautifully handpainted depicting the history from Robert Gray's discovery of the Columbia River to the arrival of the railway. Entry into the column is free but it does cost 2.00 to park. Before you head up into the column make sure purchase a balsa wood glider which you can launch off the top of the column! The view is spectacular once you climb your way to the top. If you find yourself needing to rest your quads on the way up, there are landings you can rest on or give someone a chance to pass you either coming up or down. In true Griswold fashion you could probably knock out the trip in just under an hour, including the trek up, a few selfies and the balsa wood glider launch. I highly recommend bringing binoculars with you so you can identify the houses, ships and to locate your glider after it lands.
almost a 360 degree view of the surrounding area, nice small gift shop, and saw bald eagles fairly close and friendly shop owners
Amazing views. See if you make it all the way to the top. You can still enjoy amazing views without making it all the way up.
We were at teh Astoria Column at sunset - and if you have a choice, this was an amazing time to visit. The walk up the tower was a little challenging, but worth every step. Views from the top were magnificent!!! Highlight of our trip to Astoria. Note: we were visiting all of the Lewis and Clark National Park Sites. The park area at the base of the column really provided a great vantage point of distance and the many obstacle that L & C were faced with. If you are in Astoria or are Lewis & Clark followers or National Park Visitors - DO NOT MISS THIS!
Not just the view but oh the firming and cardio benefits. The breathtaking view must be experienced by the individual. Everyone will have a different perspective and find a special experience and memory to take with them.
Definitely a must visiting the N. Oregon Coast. The gift shop was spectacular, the view was incredible, and of course flying the glider off the top is something you should do.
I love this place and will go back. It was great. I got to see the whole town from up there and the people in the shop were so nice.
An iconic landmark and spectacular views provide with individuals with diverse interests a place to explore and enjoy sharing.
I was expecting a column but found a tower instead! Why is it called a "column" I wonder? Had to climb it, of course! Great views as we were there on a clear, picture perfect day.
Went to the top of the column and the view was assume you could see the Pacific and the river as well as around the town.Beautiful park and wildlife if you lookWorth the effort
Been going here since I was a kid. It's an easy walk up to the top and so worth it . The views are spectacular from on the top.
Wonderful long distance view of the Pacific, the Columbia River and the beaches as well as inland mountains.
What a fun landmark for Astoria to have. Fun to climb and see the view on a clear day, unless you are bothered by heights. The outside is historically interesting. Avoid going with the cruise ships are in town!
