Can be combined with the Bristlecone tree trail nice stroller trough the woods. The Peak was nice to wee with the glacier.

Stella Lake is a easy-moderate hike on Wheeler Peak - nice alternative to the big elevation gains. The lake is tiny and lovely. You get to experience several different ecosystems along the way. Not much wildlife this time of year, but we did see deer. Still quite a bit of snow on the trail near the top.

Keep your eye out for wildlife, we spotted lots of mule deer, and some huge Elk that were way to close! Kids can climb up to glacier and play in the snow, even in the summer. Just don't forget your water, it's a hike, especially with little kids, but they can do it no problem.

As a relatively easy way to reach an alpine lake, this trail to Stella lake is a must in Great Basin NP. The lake is pristine and very picturesque. Theresa lake is just .5 miles west and another photo opp if the lighting is right. If you want a more challenging or longer hike while you are at Stella, continue west toward the Bristlecone Pine loop.

only a few miles. moderate hike. The Lake is much smaller than imagined. We saw some deer on the trail and you cross over a small creek.

Hike across open meadows with views of Wheeler Peak and through groves of aspens. This trail must be awesome in the fall. This is a beautiful, easy loop hike to 2 alpine lakes, Stella being the larger and more scenic, but each with it's own personailty. Combine with Bristlecone and Glacier trails for a little over 5 miles total and maybe 1000' elevation gain. Absolutely worth it. 3 or 4 very different spectacular environments.
