We always make a special trip to include the Searchlight Nugget Casino. They offer the .10 cent cup of coffee. Well it has been watered down over the years and has the taste of diluted coffee. It is no longer the attractive stop that was once. We regret losing the old searchlight and have been so displeased with our meal of today that we shall no longer be planning our trips to include this restaurant.
If you smoke - this is the place. I have no problem with it (smoke). We played $20 and lost in this casino. Played another $5 walking out and won $50. WIN-WIN for us. I hope they can finally sell this place (it has been on the market for years). Someone could make some real money buying this place. Google it. A lot of history about Searchlight, NV. It is also is the birthplace of Senator Harry Reid. I've eaten at the Searchlight Nugget many times in the past and it has always been good. We did not eat on this visit.
Absolutely terrible! Our breakfast was just horrible. Eggs barely edible, we ordered the bacon crisp and the bacon came deep fried and full of dripping grease that just covered the plate and toast that was drenched in something. Would you believe 10:00 AM and no hash browns. I asked our young male waiter for extra napkins so I could soak up the grease and he just looked at me and did not say anything, so we sent all the bacon back and it came back uneatable. We found out from the cashier that the cooks are not the same as before. We come here four times a year on our travels, but this may be the last time. The casino has some newer machines and coffee is still a dime. Bathrooms are nasty!
A smaller little casino with food, bar, slots and tables. Drove through town on a business trip. It was late and decided to eat a bit before the long road ahead. The waiter recommended the hamburger and I had my eye on the ham and cheese. There were 2 of us so we ordered each. I wanted to play the slots and eat at the same time. They were kind enough to bring it right to us both. I am very clean when I eat and super picky about not making a mess so Iknew I will not be messy all over the slot machine. What a great surprise. Super fresh burger on a very nice and great tasting quality bun. Not that average low grade stuff but the good kind. All fresh veggies. Nice crisp lettuce with onion and tomatoes just like I prefer it. Burger made as I requested. Burger hot and veggies cold. Very nice !! What blew my mind was the ham and cheese toast. I ordered it on rye with Swiss cheese. WOW. Very good quality marbled rye bread and the ham was Black Forest Ham! Nice and full flavored and not that thin half artificial nonsense some places serve. I was so pleased with the quality and flavor. I never expected this quality food at such a mellow place. The folks looked like they all knew each other and super friendly. Table games had laughter exuding and the bar was surrounded by several people who were smiling and chatting. All machines have hand pay and were paid out fast. The bar tender ran around serving and also paying out the slots. I could not find my phone and she was sweet enough to keep calling it until I found it. Genuine concern on her part and even some folks at the bar asked if I had it. I was tired and had it on my car charge. Silly me... but that is why I stopped so I can revive for the long trip. Of course I found the phone with no problems and with her help. Very appreciated. Oh, and I did not mention earlier but as soon as we entered the place, the gal at the front greeted both of us with a big welcome and all smiles. How friendly is that? I miss those days when you were noticed as you walked into a casino. I totally was ready for my drive thanks to such great service. Even the guy who recommended the burger was awesome. Such friendliness and energy this late at night. Just amazing. And the cook had enough energy to make 2 delicious meals and just perfect. Coleslaw and potato salad were both fresh as well. I will come back for sure and get another terrific ham and cheese AND a good burger. By the way, the other person with me had a nice cold beer and said the temperature was perfect. I drove so I couldn't even have a sip. I have to make up for that next time and have someone else drive. Great experience and food. Thank you everyone.
The place is disgusting and the food was horrible. Mac n cheese Came out in a square shape from its frozen box. There were 4 of us and we all got sick including one that went to the hospital. Looked on the health depts website and you can see where they've been shut down several times for health violations. Don't risk it!
Place is a dive..cooks are all terrible to say the least. Will make you sick. Place stinks. Isn't worth what the 10 cent coffee will cost you in the end!!!
Along with being a offbeat, tiny little stop on a 25 mile an hour road - this place has fun servers & amazing food. Even if you just come in for ten cent cup of coffee you won't be disappointed. They had great prime rib, chorizo and burgers. They even handled our pickiest eaters with finesse, there's a little tiny museum and some cute photo opportunities in the stop.
Stopped to eat breakfast on the way to Laughlin. Food was decent and 1/2 orders are available. Ten cent coffee was quite a surprise. Not much of a town and didn't gamble in the casino, if you can really call it one. Not too hospitable for a Mayberry in Nevada! Oh, well, it was on the way!
While staying in Laughlin, we decided to take the short drive to Searchlight and check out the Nugget. It is a small, small town friendly place, The machines are old and provide some good action. We heard that the food is good and good value but since we drove out after lunch in Laughlin we didn't get the chance to try it. We enjoyed the visit and will drop in another time. It is nice to see places like this that aren't large corporate enterprises that have forgotten the roots of casino gaming ...
We go to Laughlin about every 5 yrs. and wouldn't think of not stopping at Searchlight Nugget. It's just a must. We always get the biscuits and gravy and play a few machines and go on our way. They still have the 10 cent coffee, which is very good coffee. Always come out a small winner at the casino (maybe because we don't stay very long). Everyone is very friendly, food is good & inexpensive. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Is a very small casino, seemed a little stuffy and a little out dated. Open 24 hrs a day. I most likely will return.
We stopped here with a group of about 15 motorcycle riders and had a good brunch.About half had breakfast, the other half had lunch. I didn't hear any complaints about the food and the prices are quite reasonable. We were seated rather quickly, as this place is rarely packed (even with a large group). The wait staff took our orders and got them served in reasonable time, even for a large group.Food was prepared properly and in reasonable quantity. I had the reuben sandwich (previously I've had the chili size) and was very happy with it. I opted for the cole slaw as a side (vice french fries) and was very happy with this choice. This is a great stop on the way between Boulder City, Nevada and Needles, California. As long as you are forced to travel at 25 mph through this town you might as well stop for a bit to eat (they also have 10 cent coffee, which is hard to beat).
We were passing through Searchlight after hunting for a forest of Joshua Trees. Figured we'd stop for a quick 10 cent coffee and pitstop. It is a cute stop. The internal is dark, will take your eyes a little bit to adjust. Sadly, we were the youngest people in the room (north of 40-50 seems the average), it was like walking into a set of the Walking Dead. Left side of the place is Casino/Bar and right side was a restaurant. Friend waited over 10 minutes for the 10 cent coffee but unfortunately we were on a time line, and couldn't wait much longer for service, so we left without the coffee. We also tried the machines, but it wouldn't accept the new 1 dollar american bills we had.Sights to check in there, the huge chair in the corner on the restaurant side, an very old one arm bandit by the cashout box and a wooden indian right beside the bar opening.
There's not much on the drive between Las Vegas and Laughlin, but this is a great place to stop if you're hungry. The restaurant has a home town, "diner" feel, with good service, a varied menu of typical diner favorites, and large portions. Coffee is still 10 cents/cup. The casino is small and is primarily a slot joint, although there is a blackjack table that is open limited hours on weekends, and a poker table. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I've stopped here a number of times, and it has been nice to have been remembered by the staff.Friendly, good food ... good choice for a break from driving.
Nice place to stop any time. It's sits half way between CA and Las Vegas on NV Hwy 95. Still has a Blackjack table how great is that. Of course they have slots too. The real Jen is the cafe. Good meals any time. The High Desert Special is killer. Big old corn muffin with some sausage baked in it with scrambled eggs and country gravy on it. If your a coffee drinker you will love the 10 cent bottomless cup of it. Don't let the outside fool you it's a great place.
