We went to the discovery center as a last minute thing to do with the kids. The animals seemed really sad. The little monkeys were having some issues and scratching themselves so much that there fur was gone. I wish someone would take care of them and see what is going on.

Lots of US attractions are professional to the point of sterile. The zoo in Scottsbluff was summed up by the sign along the lines of "You can walk through the aviary if you want, but all the birds have escaped". And indeed a constant feature of walking round the zoo was random peacocks who were clearly having too good a time (or too small a brain) to escape completely. To be honest, as a solo adult, the display overall occupied only a little over half an hour, but it was hard not to warm to a place that demonstrated fallibility in the way it did.

The Riverside is a zoo, petting zoo, playground and even kids splashpad. Cheap admittance. Lots of fun activities for kids. I would say this is a total kids focused zoo. They do not advertise it well, because we knew there was a zoo in town, but they don't call it a zoo. I has normal zoo caged animals and some semicaged animals. Bring swimsuits for kids, because they have a super cool splash pad for kids to play in. It was pretty cool for adults too! They have a great petting zoo. The only drawback is that there is no restaurant here, so bring your own food. You can buy water. In some respects, it is more kid friendly that larger zoos and much less people. You don't have to fight to the front to see the animals.

Thats right for a "small" town zoo they have lions, tigers, monkeys, buffalo, zebras, peacocks, all kinds of birds from all over the world and MORE. And not just one of an animals but at least a couple of each, which I think is absolutely great. The peacocks and ducks roam free around the zoo. They have a great playground in the middle for the kids. I went here as a kid and just recently took my little guys, they liked it more than our zoo in Billings because it was lots more of the animals that you don't see every day but should see in a zoo. :-)

Just a nice place to take the family and enjoy the sights. This is affordable and it will create lasting memories. There is always something fun to see as well as hands on activities.

If you're in Scottsbluff you ought to go - it's carefully designed, interesting, and puts some of the natural beauty peculiar to the region into perspective.

This is a perfect size zoo. You can see it all in a day (or even half day, depending on how much time you want to spend on things. I don't go there as often now that my kids are older, but we maintain a family membership and sometimes they go there to walk/hang out. It is a great place for a good walk. They have a great playground AND a splash pad which is so nice in summer. And the do FANTASTIC birthday parties. Reasonably priced, cupcakes provided (at least when mine were little), tour by docent, special animal visit, some party favors/things for BD kid.

This zoo has a nice variety of animals. It is not to big, so it won't tire anyone out. Admission prices are decent. To me the zoo just seemed a little run down. The animals did not have any enrichment toys to play with like at other zoos.

We have been to this zoo a few times and have always had a fun time. They have a surprisingly wide variety of animals, considering their small size. There are wagons one can rent to pull small children in or picnic gear, etc. They have added a "splash pad" for the hot Nebraska summer days. The kids enjoyed this immensely. They have special displays for Halloween. One can see most of the exhibits easily within an hour. There is also a petting zoo area with little burrows and a few farm animals.
