We had a great visit to Wessels Living History Farm today with children and grandchildren. Because of the cold weather we visited the house and church only, but either would have been worth the visit. Mr. Wessel was knowledgeable and kept the kids entertained for the duration of the visit. I would highly recommend this place.

Today we spent about 3 hours touring the Wessels Living History farm. It was an awesome experience. We were a group of 3 adults and 5 children between the ages 7 and 17. Dick, the tour historian, was incredibly engaging for all ages. It was very cold outside so we didn't spend any time exploring the outdoors looking at the old farm equipment. We'll be back in the spring for sure! I would highly recommend this experience, whether you are a native Nebraskan or visiting from another state or country.

The staff are helpful and have much knowledge of what they explain. Farm is kept up well -- and additions are made to the museum. Great place for families.

Very nice depiction of prosperous 1920s Nebraska farm. Wonderfully restored farm house and attractive barns. Small antique machinery collection with useful information. Very well kept with modern restrooms. Also, a beautiful historical church building.

We were looking for something to do on a long drive that would get us out of the car and walking around. We were pleasantly surprised by the Living History Farm. It was a great place to stretch our legs and learn something about farming history. The tour of the house was fascinating - particularly the kitchen tools and how they were used by the farm wife. The guys were enthralled with all the old tractors and equipment.

We were the only visitor's present when we went and the staff was eager to show us everything, and tell us even more. The facilities are nice and well kept and it is great to see such love and affection for the past.

This affectionate homage to farm work and rural life of the early twentieth century may not have the high-power artifacts and curation of a larger museum, but it pulls ahead of most peer attractions in the obvious love its staff and volunteers and staff have for the site and its history. My "outside" guide gave me a good overview of the collected farm machinery and the working livestock areas, complete with fowl and sheep. My inside guide gave as thorough an explanation of the interior artifacts as I have ever gotten in a historic home, including a thorough description and demonstration of the easily-disassembled attorney's bookcase, a dinner-table gadget for squeezing a single slice of lemon, and the ubiquitous antique stereoscope, to name very few. (We both agreed that many of these pieces were far from obsolete, and would probably be welcome in homes of today.) All in all, the people of York have done a much better job than anyone could have hoped for in making this house and farm a great place to visit.

My friend and I visited on opening day. We were the only visitors. Marilyn, the docent greeted us posing as a character of the day. Her enthusiam as well as the beauty of the space made our day. The house and surrounding buildings are part of the history. The family run farm is part of the future. A person in a wheelchair can enter every place, but the upstairs bedrooms. The fee is low and will help with the rebuilding of the grounds church and regular maintenance. Children will enjoy the chickens and goats plus the freedom to run. We enjoyed the antiques. The house shows the love and care that went into the saving of it. York is near Lincoln only a little off Highway 80.

We live 30 miles away and decided to drop in the first time during the Christmas season. The house is decorated to represent the 1920s. It is beautifully done and the tour and treats are well worth the 5$ entrance fee (preschoolers are free and welcome) We became members for an additional 15$. This is not your typical no touch museum. You are allowed to investigate and they had toys to keep the little ones entertained. Highly recommend this to families.

It was very interesting, knowledgeable people. Hands-on activities for our grandchildren, who live in the City, we enjoyed it very much. Would recommend it families, grandparents & grandchildren.

Even tho I grew up on a farm, I still love going to these old places & learning things about long ago. We had a great tour guide who took us through all the buildings & explained all the things in them. There was this great big black Newfoundland dog there too. He comes with the place. You will have a GREAT time here. Make a point to stop by & check it out.

A very nice collection of farming equipment and buildings from the early 1900's. The house is well worth the visit., very well restored. We had a great guide. She was very well informed and you could tell she liked what she was doing.

The Wessels Living History Farm is a great place with something for all ages. My grandchildren, aged 4 and 12, enjoyed seeing the large collection of tractors, feeding the farm animals, and seeing the old farmhouse. For the adults, it was fun to see how a house would have been furnished in the 1920's and to remember how farm life was before all the huge machinery and modern conveniences of today. The volunteers who conduct the tours are very friendly and knowledgeable, and were accommodating and answered the many questions that we all had. I highly recommend this living museum.
