outpost wines

Outpost is one of the small wineries with a very short list of wines..and even a shorter list of wines available..but oh, how enjoyable. We fell head over heals for the Howell Zin & Cab, the Grenache was delicious although not favorite, and the very young petite sirah was good but lacking in time to develop.

Here's a chance to feel exclusive in the (sometimes) crowded-feeling wine experience of Napa County. Outpost is, indeed, an outpost. You'll have to make a reservation and drive to the top of Howell Mountain to experience their amazing wines (zin, cab, petite syrah and...my personal fav...grenache) but, once you get there, you'll know the trek was worth it. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the product is amazing (Thomas Rivers Brown is the winemaker...Google his name and you'll see what I mean). This is truly an intimate, boutique wine experience that can't be duplicated.Count on budgeting time to drink in the view as you drink in the vino (and plan on ordering a case or two. Have them ship it so it doesn't cook in your car).
