capitola mercantile

On my visit to Capitola I stopped by the Mercantile. There is a taffy shop there that seemed to be doing the best the day I was there. In general, though, I found the Mercantile average. Since I was there midweek my biggest happiness came from finding a parking spot very close by on a very nice sunny day. This is almost impossible to do on a sunny warm week-end day.

This has been a little local shopping center in a tourist town for about 35 years. Boutique type stores come and go regularly as I've heard the landlord is very difficult. There are no super unique shops but they are all worth a quick visit. But nothing really stands out. I've found the surrounding shops and restaurants in the Village to be much more interesting.

I use to spend many of my childhood summers walking around the Capitola Mercantile.We just went back to visit this summer June 2010.It is a quite but quaint little town. I love the cool weather and walking around the shops. I live in Miami...and it is not South Beach, Key West, Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, etc...But it is Capitola, California...and for me nothing compares!
