After 2 hrs of tasting & bs'g with Robert we went home with 2 cases. Try the reds or the whites doesn't matter, it's all good.

This place is the "diamond in the rough" of the Sierra Foothills! So at first I was like, "what's up with all the clogs?!"But when we went into this charming little place, we were greeted by the friendliest mutt and a cheery man named, Robert.Robert entertains his guests as he introduces you his signature style of wine, which is unique to this region. The wines are bold and complex and designed with food in mind. This dude even does a stand-up routine, (which includes the dog!) How cool is that!?A good time was had by all, He provokes such a fun atmosphere and quickly strangers were becoming friends. Laughs and good times all around!If you failed to check out Van Der Vijver winery on your wine tour, you lucked out.

Van der Vijver Winery is a great reason to make a stop in Somerset, Ca. Once you've met Robert (or his Dad), you'll see why. Knowledgeable and entertaining, is the best way to describe them. The wines that Robert crafts are simply excellent. For novices, this is a great place to start, try Ella....a dry Rose'. For experienced sippers, you'll appreciate Robert's uncompromising approach to wine making.....Cab Franc, Tempranillo, Barbera, Syrah and Pinotage......take your pick. Being Dutch (hence Robert's wooden shoes), his wines reflect a more European flair. We think that's a huge plus. Stop in soon and start enjoying some terrific wine.
