The kids (as well as adults) will have a good time at the Teaching Zoo... there is a fee for entrance, but it supports the students and the animals. The shows are great and you don't have to drive several hours to see one.

I was a little skeptical about coming here, but once there I found a great place to take children for entertaining. The small college group puts on a great little show. The prices are decent and gives the little tots a feel of what a bigger zoo could be like.

Great little zoo, especially for the low admission price ($7 for adults, $6 for kids 13 and under, 2 and under are free). They have a decent variety of species, even some large carnivores. You can tell that this is an educational environment because there were a lot of staff members from the EATM program who were on hand to answer questions. Everyone there was so friendly and informative. We got to see a hyena feeding/training session, which was really interesting. The staff member who was handling the hyena talked about the training techniques (apparently, this hyena had learned 75+ behaviors!), and she patiently answered my gazillion questions. 5 stars for the animals and 5 stars for the staff! It is a very small zoo so don't expect to spend too much time there, but it's well worth it if you have an interest in animals and what it takes to care for them. According to the zoo, many of these animals can't be re-released into the wild, so it's nice that they can still contribute to their environment by helping the EATM staff teach others about their species. Highly recommended!

Watch the Exotic Animal Training and Management college students put on a show featuring animals in the zoo collection. The facility is well maintained and the animals well loved and provided with plenty of enrichment activities.

Animals should be in there natural habitat. The only way I approve of wild animals being in cages or with fences is if they were hurt and are being nursed back to health and released. It is just not natural.

While America's Teaching Zoo is small place, the students do a good job while learning. The zoo is open weekends only - from 11am - 5pm.They have animal shows at 12, 1, 2, 3pm.The students are very friendly, and will answer your questions about any of the animals they have there. This is the only Zoo in Ventura County,A great adventure for younger children.

It may not be as exciting as big commercial zoos, but I found it refreshing that kids can just focus on watching animals instead of overpriced junkfood and gift shop trinkets. It is small and easy to navigate.

My husband and I visited America's Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College last Saturday for the 1st time ever. We were really pleased with our visit and impressed with America's Teaching Zoo because it's small, quaint and filled with charm!! The staff on hand are very friendly and eager to answer questions about the zoo and the animals on exhibit. The staff is very knowledgeable and go out of their way to make your visit a good experience. The zoo is only open on weekends from 11am to 5pm with shows held hourly at noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm. Each show hosts different animals and last approximately 15 minutes. Admission is $5 for adults (less for children & senors) and parking is free.We loved seeing the animals especially the primates and also learning about the animals in the show we saw. I'd saw a visit would last 60 minutes and longer if you wanted to see more of the shows.

Who needs the Los Angeles Zoo when you have the Teaching Zoo in your backyard?
