Visited Soda Springs for New Year's Day for their PlanetKids (up to age 8) and upon arrival of PlanetKids area, it was chaotic! Paid the $34 ticket of play but there were NO snow tubes available or people were hoarding the tubes! My kids didn't get a chance to play and when they did finally get a tube to take turn, the kids just go up the hill where they just came down from tubing. NOT SAFE! Told the Soda Springs people in orange ski suits but they just reply "Thank You for letting us know." but NO ACTION. So I witnessed a bunch of kids and parents getting swiped because they were climbing up the middle of the hill instead of using the carpet! Yikes!!There were lines everywhere! I haven't visited this place for a long time and this will be the last time. I'll be visiting other resorts instead. If you do go, I'd recommend purchasing tickets online beforehand or else you will have to wait 30+ people deep on a weekend!!Hours opened were 10am - 4pm. With the standing in lines, you'd really get more like 2 hours of actual play time at PlanetKids.
Stunning and beautiful Soda Springs is a great place to visit,With a lot of places to visit and things to do, Soda Springs is a great place to spend your hollidays.
I saw a pamplet at the Sport Shop for Soda Springs Planet Kids. It looked like it would be so much fun for lile kids. So we went there. It was very different, much smaller and no place for the kids to just build a snowman. On top of paying to get in the kid area, you have to pay $30 for the kids to have a 30 min.ski lesson. I would advise you to save your money and bring your own sled. Find a safe area off the side of the road and have fun with you kids & your own sled. For the money you spend to go into Soda Springs Planet kids you can buy your own sled and have it every year.
For $25, you can go tubing all day. I suggest you go early while the wait is not too long. Once it's after 11am on the weekend, you will need to wait a while for your turn.We did not go ski there, their price seems to be higher than Donner ski ranch which is about 5-10 minutes drive away.
I brought my two girls to planet kids at the soda springs ski resort it was the first time either of them had been to the mountains or skiing. You can imagine their excitement when we got here and they saw all the snow. This is a really great place for kids however very disorganized and the wait time for rentals is ridiculous. They had literally one person in the rental area to give kids boots, skiis and snowboards. You could tell the employee was very stressed out but nobody came to help him out as the line continued to build up. The tubing hill is very small and I was very disappointed in the overall cost for such a small area. We will definitely be going somewhere else next time it's not worth the money to come here
Planet Kids at Soda Springs was great! Small children can do some gentle or faster tubing, learn to ski, and of course climb and play in the snow with a parent or guardian all day for one reasonable flat price.
