My friends and I didn't know much about wines or port, so the staff had us play a "game" where we paired off and filled out a worksheet on the wines and competed over who could get the most correct answers. The staff was very fun and informative without being pretentious. We also got to meet the owner and we had a good time talking and joking around with him. The wines may not have been la creme de la creme, but it was very laid-back, fun, and I would recommend to anyone traveling in the area.
We always stop by this winery when tasting in the Foothills area. Recent visit with friends was especially memorable due the excellent service & hospitality shown by Mitch, who graciously -- and with great humor -- walked us patiently through Jodar's various wine samples and specials. We ended up buying 2 cases among the 6 of us, largely because of Mitch -- and of course the reds were very good. If you like ports, their port is also a good find. Am not usually a fan, but I do enjoy Jodar's port. Check this place out when wine-tasting in the El Dorado region, easy access of Hwy. 50. Have always enjoyed it here and friends have never been disappointed when visiting for the first time.
We enjoyed our time here at the Jodar Winery. The waitress was nice and knowledgeable. The port was excellent , but we had to take a bottle of Merlot home with us. They have a nice deck area and there are several picnic tables. She helped us with a map and made several suggestions on who to go visit next. We enjoyed our visit very much
Jodar's tasting room is located right off Hwy. 50 - literally two quick turns and you're there, hugged up tight against the freeway. The actual vineyards are about 10 minutes away. We're particularly fond of the Barbera and the Cab blends. The tasting room is small and there isn't true space to picnic, but don't be turned off by this. The wine is well worth the stop!
Took a little wine tour of El Dorado County and found Jodar Vineyards tucked away in Camino. I loved their port.
Came here with a group and tasting room is very small and hard to accommodate a large group. Our taster had us line up in a trainand didn't explain anything about any of the wines. After the tasting he told us to leave our glasses and be on our way, not letting anyone inside to buy. They then would not let us inside to use the restroom. The wine was bad and the glasses had lipstick and water stains. Don't waste the time stopping.
