One of the many wineries in apple hill area I have tried. This place is one of the closest to the Sacramento valley on a hillside. Beautiful grounds and room for one to bring a pet for a picnic. Staff is pleasant and prompt to helping. Several wine tasting offerings for a reasonable fee which is waived with purchase. One can also do a glass purchase of their favorites. The menu provides good descriptors on the tastings. Reserve wines are available with commemorative glass for 10 or 1 per tasting. We enjoyed most from the wine tasting. We also elected to try one from the reserve (as one choice is my favorite type). The regular tasting in whole had a range of choices. Reserve was not one of my favorites here. The tasting set offered a good mix we elected to purchase a bottle. Bill was settled without much hesitation. Average bottle of wine price was on par with the other wineries in area 20-40Good: service, wine.Bad: nothing yet I'll be back soon.
Not a fan of reds but Boeger winery produces a very tasty white Riesling comparable to a Mosel Kabinett class. The setting and the history of this winery makes it worthy of a visit.
Take the Schnell School exit in Placerville and treat yourself to some great wine. They won the award this year for best wine in the state and that's saying a lot with Napa and Sonoma around! We ended up joining the wine club, the wine is so delicious.
Returned here agin this year because we had such a great time last year and they did not disappoint. Our server on sept 24th was a very nice, friendly, knowledgeable gal, so sorry we can't remember her name. She deserves big kudos for a good job. Her charm made our trip extra special and we got a little wine education too. For my sisters this was their fist trip to Boeger and they loved both the wine and beautiful grounds. We were just disappointed the blacksmith shop was closed but we arrived during the king fire. Thanks Boeger for a good time, free tastings and delicious wine we took home.
We had a great time tasting the wines at Boeger. Friendly staff. Great selection of cheeses for purchase. Excellent area for a picnic. Found some cute earrings, too!
My wife and I dropped in Boeger about noon on a Friday and had a wine tasting. The lady giving the tasting was very informative and fun. They quite a selection of varietals. I liked the Zins and especially the Milagro Reserve which is a blended Tempranillo. It's in a beautiful setting.
Boeger is at the start of the Placerville wine tour, but it is probably among the best of the lot. Simple tasting room, but good picnic grounds. They also actually grow the grapes and make their wine, which many/most of the others do not, and the wines are actually OK, not great but worthy of drinking. Be aware that most of the prices of this and the other tasting rooms are probably 50-100% priced above the value, but these are OK for a fun purchase. A good start to then stop at 2-3 others that might offer more samples or a higher price, but really aren't better wines. The overall driving tour of the Placerville district is the attraction, the wines and orchards in themselves are nothing special. Good for the kids or an afternoon date.
First time visiting this winery and first stop on a birthday celebration. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff was so nice, friendly and informative and the wines are wonderful. After the tasting we bought cheese, bread, salami, etc. and sat out at a table on the grounds. Next time we would probably come more prepared with our own picnic because it is such a pretty place to sit out, eat, have a glass of wine and relax. Loved it and can't wait to go back.
We have been members of the wine club here for nearly 10 years. Their wine is consistently very good...I've only had one bottle of undrinkable wine from Boeger in all that time. The location is really convenient and close to town. I try to stop by during the week when I can because the tasting room can get very busy on weekends, depending on the time of year. We have been in few wine clubs, but this is they only one that we have stuck with.
We were at Boeger yesterday afternoon, what a disappointment. There were six to eight tasters in the tasting room and one server. Usually one server can handle 8 patrons at a winery, not this young man. He totally ignored the tasters whenever he needed to use the cash register for someone making a purchase. He has no idea what the term multi-task means. We only tasted four wines in almost 30 minutes as he fumbled with folks making a purchase. He could have easily taken 30 seconds to poor the next offering then returned to the check out, which almost all servers do. We don't know if the wines are good or not. We usually buy several bottles, no chance to do so here. We did not come to the Apple Hill area to spend the day staring at the walls at Boeger.
We have been going to Boeger winery for the past 6 years and have never been disappointed. The overall scenery is wonderful. The tasting room is very warm and inviting. Their wines have been delicious and very reasonable priced. We stopped by this last February and I loved every one of their reds. My wife loved their Sauvignon blanc and chardonnay. The service at Boeger has always been outstanding! They are very friendly and knowledgeable about their wines. Boeger winery is our first stop whenever we are in the area.
Had some great wine here. The atmosphere is wonderful. Jade and Alan took care of us and made sure that our glasses were always filled.
Loved this place! The grounds were immaculate, peaceful, family friendly, and romantic (is it even possible to be all those things at once?! YES) The "tractor pit" as I like to call it kept the kids happy while we perused the blacksmith and hand spun yarn room which was amazing. But the reason we all go to a vineyard of course is the wine tasting - and this was also among the top tasting experiences of the day for me, very nice wine. Nice and spacious beautiful modern craftsman style tasting room and gift shop that also had some nice selections of cheese from England for purchase. Food pairings are a must when wine tasting, and they were delightful. Would come back here again and again.
We visited on a Friday evening - with live music. The Boeger site is beautiful and the wine is good, particularly the Barbera. I would recommend this as a stop for a visit to the area such as an Apple Hill tour.
boeger has reds and whites and lovely grounds. some of the folks who pour are quite knowlegable about wines. try to visit during the weekday and make an effort to avoid holidays. they have a small gift shop - annabelles chocolates are excellent!
