core wine company tasting room

The tasting room for Core is in a 100 yr old former bank building in Old Orcutt. The wines were quite good, standouts being Hard Core, (a Rhone style red blend) and their Rose.

My wife and I visited the tasting room when vacationing in Santa Barbara in July. We met Dave, one of the owners, and had a great visit. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He explained their extended barrel aging process and why their Rhone and Bordeaux blends are particularly unique in the Santa Barbara area. Our favorite bottles were the 2008 Hard Core and the 2007 Core Mister Moreved Alta Mesa (this one scored a 94 from The Rhone Report – completely deserved). We also joined the wine club and look forward to coming back this winter during our next trip to the area. This place is a great find. Probably our favorite tasting room in the Santa Barbara area.

A great place to taste with family or friends before dinner next door. Gotta love the owner and all the wine, especially the Core Hard Core. Some great specials too.

This is one of my favorite tasting rooms because the owners are so great and the wine is really good. It is a lot of unique blends and the prices are affordable. Definately recommend it! It is also close to some good food spots so grabbing a bottle after tasting and taking to a local restaurant is awesome.
