I have not visited thier tasting room in Sutter Creek, but I have visited thier winery in Plymouth many times. We enjoyed thier wine so much, that we decided to become wine club members. This was a great decision. As an extra perk, wine club members are treated to dinner once a year (provided by Taste Restaurant). BellaGrace brings this 4 course meal and wine pairings to your home for 10 people. We just had our dinner a few weeks ago and we all thought it was wonderful. We had delicious food from the award winning Taste Restaurant, delicious wines from Bella Grace, a knowledgeable host (the owner of BellaGrace) and all in the comfort of our own home. It is a really nice bonus to the wine club. We really enjoy this winery very much and look forward to visiting everytime we are in the area.
We visited the tasting room in Sutter Creek for the second time (first was in July 2012). On our second visit we noticed changes which were good additions; olive oil tasting and a young woman playing the piano as we entered. The tasting room downstairs remained very nice and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. On both occaisions, we enjoyed some of their wine on the deck with some cheese and crackers we brought in.
We visited, tasted wine, and liked the wine ... purchased about $200 worth of wine. We had been told of their event that evening which was supposed to be over at 9:00 P.M. After dinner down the street we were walking back to our hotel, and popped in to listen to the band ... it was about 8:45. My wife is latina, and not of white skin, and is often confused of being different races depending on where in the world we travel. To make a long story short, one of the staff approached us, told us we would need to check in, and pay $20 per person for the remaining 15 minutes the band was playing. This is not what bothered me, as it is their event, but she next looked directly at my wife and asked if we were even staying in town. The tone of her comments were obvious she was insinuating we were freeloaders, and it was unnecessary and not appreciated. I am thinking of taking our wine purchase back and ask for my money back.
Great Sutter Creek location and a chance to taste some lovely wines. Very generous tastings were poured without a fee by the friendly staff. We also took the time to taste the flavored olive oils and balsamic.. The atmosphere and people were lovely, we enjoyed our visit.
Although we have been traveling to Amador County for years, I had never heard of this winery. By happenstance the son of the owner/winemaker was in the Imperial Hotel giving a private tasting to the owner hoping she would stock some of their wines in her bar. We got to talking about the puppy we were traveling with and he invited us to their country tasting room (they have one in downtown Sutter Creek as well) saying dogs are welcome. There were two unique features to this country tasting room. The basic barrel room/tasting are being in a cave and, on this particularly sunny March day, the tasting area being moved outside to take advantage of the weather. We had stocked up on bread, crackers, cheese & salami so it was the perfect place to have a picnic lunch. All the better that our puppy could enjoy the visit as well. After tasting the available wines we selected 2010 Reserve Chardonnay to compliment our meal. Before we left our group of 6 purchased a number of individual bottles. A nice wine tasting experience.
Visited the tasting room in SutterCreek. Enjoyed the wine and nice people working behind the counter.
We had a wonderful picnic on the back deck with a bottle of there "Rose" WONDERFUL. You may say I don't drink "Pink" wine, my husband does, until he tasted this one. Not sweet, great balance for our picnic on the deck. Of course we had a few tasting and a case later were on our way! It is a must stop if you are in Sutter's Creek for the day! Sorry we couldn't stay for the wine event at the county fair on Friday evening. It would be so much fun. Great wine country!
One of the benefits of being a wine club member is their wine and food pairing event done at your home! Wow, They come to your home with their great wines paired with equally great food all at no cost! They bring everything....wine, food, glasses, plates, etc, plus a lot of fun and information on their very special winery. The event includes a total of 10 folks (more at a cost per person) and we all had a great time. They also bring wine for sale and offer it to your guests at the wine club discount.....all in all a great deal and a lot of fun! When you are in Sutter Creek visit their tasting room, enjoy great wine (for us the Barbera and Chardonnay) and join the wine club.....you will not be sorry.
With a group of my friends we headed to Sutter Creek for a day of sampling cheeses, wine tasting, shopping and lunch. Our first stop was the Sutter Creek Cheese Shoppe where we sampled cheeses and bought many wonderful ones. Our next stop was wine tasting so we dropped into the first tasting room we came upon; we knew nothing about it. The name was BellaGrace. We sampled a sparking wine and then four reds (our group prefers red wine). After each tasting we were pleasantly surprised because we all like the four reds that we tasted. First of all each one of us usually has a favorite like old vine zin or babera etc. Also, I don't think we have ever liked all the wines poured at any one winery. I have to say we all liked the four reds and would be happy to serve any one of them. Another treat is that they make olive oil and sell it either plain or flavored with basil, lemon, orange etc.If you like wine and wine tasting BellaGrace is definitely worth the visit.
If you were smart enough to book the Sutter Creek Inn, come out the front and turn right. The delightful home where this winery is housed awaits you. They offer history and a wide variety of their local wines - something for everyone. We can also vouch for the quality of their olive oil, so even if you don't care for wine, come in for this. The spacious setting offers a comfortable tasting environment, and highlights local artists. Everyone is friendly and warm - you may be there for a while. There are a lot of stairs, so if this is a problem, call in advance to see if there is another way in.
Wonderful wines, very nice Friday night, endless Pizza & Music $10! Great Jazz! Dog friendly patio & lawn!
If you are in Sutter Creek and like wine, then you should certainly visit BellaGrace. First, the tasting room is unique because it occupies a nicely restored pioneer home on the main street. BG's reserve wines are excellent. We joined their wine club but mostly got recent vintages that need to age before they will be up to the quality of BG's reserve wines. The owners are super nice and you can tell they are working hard to be an excellent winery. This winery and the Tanis winery are my two favorite Amador County wineries thus far.
