big bear visitor center

The visitor centre is interesting and shows the wildlife and geology of the area in an interesting way. There are guides on hand to answer any questions about the local area and its inhabitants, and they are very knowledgeable. So many stuffed animals though, so it can be a bit creepy if you are sensitive to that. Good for a quick stop over.

This place has tons of info. As far as activities and recreation it is the same info that can be obtained at your lodging, the discovery center or around the village. The best info here is around properties such as cabins etc, so I found it more helpful for planing future visits. It is a nice one stop location to gather material regarding big bear, though. And if you are in the village anyway it is convenient to stop in and look.
