The beauty of Valhalla is well worth visiting. We went to a wedding there and the venue was an experience that will be in our memories for ever.
Great park to explore history, the beauty of the Lake, take in a lunch, and work it off on the bike trails.
Valhalla is a great place to check out. We happened to visit when they were having 20's faire which was perfect because that was Valhalla's hay day. It made the experience so much more authentic. This is a great place to ride you bike or take a nice stroll through these historic estates. I recommend ending at The Beacon Bar & Grill.
Walked the grounds and they are kept up very nicely. Came in from camp richardson and it was convenient that you can walk between the two
This is absolutely the must gorgeous place to have a wedding and the staff there is wonderful. It was a great experience for all, the grounds are well maintained and easy access for all but would recommend a shuttle ( Alpine Serria Tours & Shuttle) it makes it safe for your guests. Just amazing!
All summer long, this historic site offers a variety of theater experiences from concerts on the lawn to Shakespeare. There truly is something for everything, being in June with the Renaissance Faire.
First of all Emerald Bay stands as one of the most beautiful spots in the world - and the State of California banks on that by charging parking fees - but just go park at the Eagle lake area (across the highway) that is still free and walk to the trail head down the hill to the shore of Emerald Bay. Notice the hike is steep in spots, and yes - you'll have to hike back up when you're returning to your car.The Tour of the Viking Home (more $$$) is worth it, at least once, and especially if you never plan on taking that hike down the hill again.Beautiful home built by an outrageously wealthy old woman a hundred years ago or more. We have taken the tour several times with different friends and always enjoy it.Take a lunch with you and your beach chairs (remember, you'll have to lug them up the hill again) and enjoy the afternoon at a beautiful beach with a nice pier you can jump into the water from, lots of kids are usually doing that when we are there. My wife always does.Start your hike back up the hill slowly and take your time, it's usually shady and after it's all done you'll feel it was worth it.Have fun!!
The Faire this year was a bit shy of venders but did have some Faire folk we had not seen before. The jousting was much better than in years past and the food at the Faire was better than in the past
This was a great "informal" tour area. We picked up some information sheets that helped explain the area, the houses, the pathways, etc. Beautiful area, great views, and I can only imagine what it must have been like as the private owner of this place.
We enjoyed a day of touring here. You can sign up for a guided tour....we didn't. We walked the grounds mostly in the shade. Very informative and an enjoyable day at your own pace.Family friendly. Pets welcome.
Wow! I wish I could have stayed here back in its Glory Days! Lots to see and free! Historic homes of the rich and famous!
This place for us out of towners was quite hard to find, but once we did.. wow.. really pretty. The room where the ceremony and reception was held is quite small. Max occupancy is 140 people so this is definitely a place for a more romantic cozy wedding. From what I hear it is quite $$$ also. The staff is extremely friendly! They work hard and transformed the room in no time at all!! The food was absolutely fantastic and so was the atmosphere! The scenery is breathtaking as well. Very nice place overall and again great staff!!
We recently attended a wedding at this location. The wedding was inside and the tables for the reception was setup outside on the grounds. I loved the smaller inside with the wood and rock decor. The grounds were well kept and had an awesome view of Lake Tahoe. I understand there is other historical buildings on the site. Also beautiful walking trails.
I'm not a fan of history but this place makes me want more! Great Gatsby Festival is awesome! GO! This is all part of the Tallac Historic area with easy walking paths and new things to see every year. It is beautiful here.
Everything in the area was well kept and the scenery is lovely. Be sure to call about tours and times before you go. Visit the gift shop they have fun affordable items.
