The admission is cheap, less than $5 I believe. Mostly the exhibits are of the history of the area. This used to be a courthouse/jail, so the jail cells and a courtroom have been restored and made available. If you are interested in old west rifles, then be sure to stop by for a visit. There are a lot of Winchesters on display and some other rifles and shotguns. Definitely stop here if you are in Medora for a day or two.
Thoroughly enjoyed wandering through this museum, the FBI wanted posters were interesting, very cheap admittance fee. If you like looking at antique or old items this is the place,
This is a well maintained museum of the local history. If you are interested in that aspect of Medora. There isn't much in the way of Theodore Roosevelt or the Marquis de Mores. Was not very expensive, $2 I think, but not sure I would go again.
The gun collection may be the best part of the collections. Staff were most helpful. Those jail cells were a place to avoid!
Full disclosure: I love small, local museums...and I liked this museum. And it is FREE> I learned a lot about barbed wire...and never knew that barbed wire had a decided effect on the West. I also liked the original jail, and all the old documents. It is museums like this that teach us the real history of a place. So ..this is a small, local museum which will cost you nothing and will educate you about this area of the country--I say, if in Medora, stop by and learn about this unique little town. It is an "average" wonderful, small town museum!
This is a neat place I have been going to since i was a child, The price was only $3.00 for adults and it was a nice place to see again, The old time jail and courthouse is interesting.
Showcases the past in a well-done manner. They have preserved the old courtroom and offices as well as sheriff's office and jail.
If you like guns or barbed wire, this is definitely the museum for you. Step inside the old jail cell, or sit in the quiet courtroom upstairs and imagine frontier justice under law rather than under a hanging tree...
It as a little more money than I think it was worth...although I'm not that much of a museum person. There were some interesting things to see, but once through was plenty for me.
