Seals purched on buoy, eagles in the trees, spectacular 380 degree views, picnic tables, walking trails, beach combing.....what more could you want from a park! Enjoyable any time of the year.

We went for a walk during our stay at the resort up and back on the spit. We observed a plethora of bird activity including at least six different eagles in flight interacting between themselves and the other birds in the area. It was more interesting than when I have seen sixty of them roosting in trees because these birds were active and vocal. In addition there were hundreds of grebes, mergansers, some loons and hundreds of sea gulls to be observed on both sides of the spit. We walked up and back on different sides separated by maybe 50ft and had different experiences on ocean side vs harbor side.As opposed to the resort I look forward to bringing my children back to the spit with canoes, kayaks and bikes to enjoy the park. The sheltered water looks like a great place to put in and practice basic paddling skills. The ocean side a relatively benign setting to test new skills with minimal risk.At the South end is a museum that was closed but might be interesting as it details some of the hardships of the cannery life in the area. Outside we saw the “iron chink” which was a mechanized replacement for the the skilled Chinese workers who processed the fish. Additionally is a venue for rent that might be a more affordable wedding venue the “Cannery lodge”.Its a nice spot. Lots of bird activity. Possibility to do family boating and bike riding.

This a great place to take a walk before crossing through the Peace Arch Immigration Station at the north end of Blaine. With beaches, marine life, herons, and amazing views of the Pacific Ocean and Historic Waterfront buildings this is a very rich area to visit and observe. The area by the Semiahoo Spit and the Blaine Harbor is especially wonderful.

I love this park! It offers views of the ocean and the mountains! A sunrise or sunset caught in this area is one you won't soon be forgetting! Don't forget your camera! It is not uncommon to see Eagles, River Otters, and even Harbor Seals! Lots of clams, sand dollars and starfish! A fun beach if you are a birder or a rockhound. I come here many times a year to enjoy it's beauty.

While there are plenty of waterfront access options in the Blaine/Birch Bay area, none match Semiahmoo Park and Semiahmoo Spit for view, access, and options. The county park provides a good starting point, but one can also park at the marina or the resort and access the beach, the trails,or the variety of facilities. Indeed, because of the marina and the resort, there are handy food options (the marina has a small store and the resort has restaurants). The drive out to the spit is delightful and in the summer one can take the "Plover" ferry from Blaine out to the spit. Regardless of how you get there, you'll love the wildlife, the views, and the charm.
