I visit the park whenever I visit my daughter and her family who live in Utsalady. I time the tides so I can walk the beach from the upper picnic area to the southeast boundary of the park. Easy steps go down from the upper area which has a heated restroom year around. Another descent has no steps but is easy enough to navigate. Sometimes logs drift in on the tide to create a tricky transition; however, this is Washington. Our beaches are often rocky and scattered with driftwood logs. The walk near the cliffs is gravelly while the low tide exposes rocks. As you walk you can clearly see the Olympic Mountains if the weather permits. Plenty of trilling eagles in the shoreline trees; I have always seen two or three, and once walked past one ripping apart a fish on the rocks not more than 20 feet away. I was surprised that it ignored me. There is a boat launch with restrooms and picnic tables and trails to suit most people's needs. Lately, container ships have anchored on the Whidbey Island side of Saratoga Passage because of the labor problems at the ports which must be a bummer for folks with view homes on that side of the water. I've seen whales and sea lions and every kind of waterfowl that inhabits this part of the country. If I can catch the early sun and a low tide, then heaven is within my reach.

Camano State Park is one of the most beautiful parks you will find on the water. They have beach access, covered picnic areas, boat launching, hiking trails and lots of beautiful nature. Just remember you must have a Discovery Pass to park or pay at the entrance.

We knew it was going to be a sunny day, so we planned to head out to the park and beach. It ended up being 59* on a February day! We had taken cameras with us, too. This State Park is geared toward those that have one of 3 interests; hiking, boating, beach combing. It is not a particularly scenic park, especially for taking photos. And, the tide was too far in for combing the beach. And we do not have a boat. So, we were left with a few short hikes and a drive through the park. Overall, if you enjoy these sort of things, then it is worth the drive. If you prefer a park with open meadows to play ball or fly kites, then there are other more suited places.

The park has some nice trails for hiking and at low tide you can walk along the shore for a mile or so. In the couple times I've visited, I've seen more Bald Eagles than I could count.

We went to Camano Island State Park for a fact finding mission and discovered a beautiful park with spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains. Absolutely gorgeous! We will be back again.

Great park for just about anything; camping, hiking, picnic. The views are wonderful and the beaches are fun (if a bit rocky.) Next door is Cama Beach cabins. A really great place to stay!

Want a boat launch or cabin or tent or RV parking? This has it all. Great for families, couples, or just to get away for peace and quiet. Trails lead through the forest and miles of beach front to walk, beautiful right on Puget Sound.

Very nice state park. Excellent boat ramp. Great beach for fishing (when the fish are running). Wonderful scenery......especially during the summer months.

Boat launch stinks. Made for two launches but way to narrow. Very hard to launch in the wind. Parking is limited, never go there on a weekend.

Nice greenspace, lots of open area, picnic tables and easy stairs down the the beach. The beach is good for hunting for seashells, and it has some great views. Love to visit during the spring, summer and fall

Washington State is loaded with small well-managed state parks in scenic places, and Camano Island is a jewel in that crown. Right on the water on an outer curve, it affords a lot of scenic east and south facing 'premium' spots, most with shade and some without, facing Whidbey Island. A boat launch is below to one side. The island itself is a wonderful place to be--plenty of great hiking trails, groceries and restaurants available within a short drive, and yet the campground's location feels remote. When you're there you're deliciously oblivious to the presence of anything but other campers, trees, and wildlife. Scenic and serene.

Wonderful 2.6 mile hike through the forest and then overlooking the Saratoga Passageway with a great view of Whidbey Island. We always see eagles soaring on every hike.Daily fee $10 or a year Pass for $30, get it when you renew your license plates.

Camano Island State Park was initially created in a single day with a large, dedicated work party. There is something for everyone who loves the unique character of the PNW and beaches. The park is large - take a right at the Y and look out for the trail along the cliffs before driving down the hill. Within 5 minutes you arrive at a lovely vista of Saratoga Passage and many madrona trees. Take a left at the Y and you will be offered a short - no elevation gain or loss loop trail before descending to the boat launch and many picnic tables suitable for a perfect Sunday picnic or an impromptu picnic during the week. On a clear day the Olympic range is in view. So much charm to this park...then drive 10 minutes to the sister park Cama Beach! For such a small island the park scene here is over the top.Check out reviews for Cama, The Center for Wooden Boats, rustic cabin rentals on the water and of course the cafe.Remember you'll need the "pass" to park at any of the WA state Parks. The annual pass is good for unlimited visits for a year for two vehicles. Money well spent in my opinion.

The State Park on Camano Island is a beautiful place to take a hike, camp, launch a boat, or just enjoy the beach.
