Congrats to Mt Baker Rotary club and the entire community. Amazingly well designed and constructed. Our grandkids drive 30-min from Bellingham because there's nothing like it anywhere else in the region. If you're anywhere nearby with kids don't miss this
The community came together to improve this park and the kids just absolutely love this park. There is something for every age. Once the children tire of the play ground, they love the creek that runs through (especially in the summer-time).
Whenever we visit Lynden, this park is a MUST for our kids. The centerpiece is a large playground with a 3 story playhouse tower (fully enclosed to prevent falls) with a long twisting slide to the bottom. The tower is connected to other play structures with bridges and walkways and there are plenty of things to climb, swing, or crawl through. The playground includes a separated area for smaller kids so they don't get run over by the big kids and there is a fence around to prevent kids from wandering off. The fence is needed because there is a shallow creek running through the park (about 20 ft wide and a few inches to about 18 inches deep in the late summer (much deeper in the spring or after rain). The creek has a fine gravel bank and bottom which is great for wading and splashing. The park is on a hillside and the kids love running (or rolling) down. There are several picnic areas and shelters (which can be reserved) for larger parties. The eastern half of the park is wooded with tall cedars and dirt trails for the kids to run on. There is an old fitness course along the wooded trail for pull ups, balance, and sit-ups. New this summer is a series of illustrated panels spread out through the park that tell a story, so the kids can have fun running along and seeing what happens next. There is biking/walking trail that runs through the park and continues for a mile or two along the creek. There are plenty of shade trees as well as open space for a family to enjoy a fun afternoon.
Cool and nice , the kids had great time running around the playground while the parents enjoy the shade and cool breeze. it was hot day. The tube slide was great fun. They have few picnic tables and a small water creek. There is a separate area for younger kids which is good.
Perfect city park. Paved bike and walk paths, beautiful creek, awesome playgrounds for kids of all ages. My kids especially like the huge fort with bridges, sliding pole and tube style slide. Great place for hide and seek!
I've always driven by the playground area because I have no small children, and thus had nothing to say about it. One of our grandsons is visiting us for a few weeks, so we took him here this morning. Totally impressed. I cannot adequately express how well designed and constructed this playground is. It is like a castle maze with interesting little nooks and crannies all over the place. The entire place is enclosed in an attractive wood fence, and there is seating for the parents inside the fence, or you can sit by Fishtrap Creek which runs right through the park. The children are safely tucked inside the play area. The entire "floor" of the playground is soft, padded bark, so if a child does experience a fall, they will not be injured..
Nice little park Would be awesome if you have little children. Neat looking playground. Had a nice but short trail in the park but it continues on outside the park.
Great park for all age kids. Lots to do. It's completely fenced in so it is safe. We spend many hrs here.
This is a great playground. Many different areas to keep kids busy, something for different sized kids. Shady, picnic areas, stream nearby is great for wading in summer. Nice restrooms on site. Walking trails. We love this park.
Good on you citizens of Lynden! We took our young kids to City Park twice while visiting Lynden, they loved it! There are two sections to the large park, one for younger kids, and one for bigger kids. Great climbing and exploring areas. Equipment was all in good working condition, and the park was clean and cared for. Bathroom facilities were good and clean. The park is accessible for children with disabilities. Best park our kids have ever been at.
Lynden Rotary went all out. This park is for kids. There are people there 365 days a year. Nice shade on hot days. Creek runs through too for hot summer days. Play structure is enormous and great for tag and hide and seek. Parking is close.People drive from 15 miles away just to hang out in this park.
This playground was bulilt by the community and a LOT of people go there with their kids. There is plenty of room for all age ranges of kids. On nice days there is a very gentle flowing shallow creek that kids love to walk and play in too! Also some great walking trails out of this park!
This is a nice, peaceful park in the city of Lynden. Lots of playground equipment and nice walking trails.
This park was a community effort and is visually beautiful and lots of fun for children. Spiral slide, monkey bars, tire swing, walkways, climbing wall, lots of interesting things to play on, creek to wade in, picnic tables, shade from the sun..... It can get crowded at times as lots of people from outside the community bring their kids here too.
Our children were not with us but my husband and I drove by this park while on a vacation and decided to stop as it looked so impressive. I was so impressed by the huge list of companies and families that donated to help make this park happen. This is one of the largest parks I have ever seen and has something for every age of child, including adults. There is a great Tot Spot as well as a big section for older children that seems to go forever. We hope to come back for the Raspberry Festival in July and bring the whole family so our girls can enjoy spending some time playing in this fabulous community park.
