old bicycle in the tree

Nothing special unfortunately, its neat that it is their but its just a random stop on the side of the road, easy to spot path to the left of an old building. By path I mean a 15ft walk, their is no fun trail to walk or hike, so its perfect for ANYONE of any ability to go see.

See it soon before it disappears into the tree. Remember, Vashon is a magic island. The history of the Bicycle Tree can be found in the archives of the Beachcomber, and most of the island residents can tell visitors about it.

Though I'm not quite sure about the history, it's a cool little stop. There is no signage, and the map link attached to Trip Advisor is not correct. We were able to finally locate it via another review posted here. I can now scratch this off of my bucket list.

Unfortunately the bike has been vandalized and the entire thing is not there anymore, but you can still get a feel for the little attraction. Locals are searching for vintage bike parts to rebuild it to the best of their ability and to put some sort of fence around the tree to keep this from happening again. Nevertheless, it is easy to find down the path and is a fun stop on your trip across the island.

My friend and I were staying on Vashon and wanted to see the bicycle in the tree after we read the story. It actually took us three trips to actually find it making the search more exciting than the bike itself. After looking in the woods directly behind the Sound Food Cafe, and checking a trail in the lot to the right of the Cafe we finally asked a local and were pointed to the small lot to the left of the cafe with a couple of vehicles parked in it. Once you know the general area to look it's very easy to spot there's a small trail and wooden blank bridge to the left hand side of the lot that go back the few feet it takes to reach the bike. Someone did steal the handle bars and the front tire but it's still interesting to see how nature can adapt.

Some idiot recently vandalized the bike in tree. August 2014. They cut off the front wheel and handlebars. It's still cool to see but, unfortunately the splayed skins of the vandals responsible are not yet on display. If I had my way the next new Vashon attraction would be the bleached carcasses of the culprits.

It is what it is, a young child's bicycle, rusted out, part way up a tree. Just off the road, down a path.

A quick visit is all you need to see this odd attraction--it really is a bicycle in the middle of a big tree--which is close to the main road.
