This is our second visit to Double Bluff with our dog and what a fantastic visit. Double Bluff is a safe, expansive beach for the dog to run and swim. The other dogs were friendly and playful.
The views are outstanding and the beach was very clean. Your dog can play and run with dog friendly people around. I come here several times a year. Wish there was a better dog friendly hotel near by.
This beach is wonderful. In the winter, it is a fine beach to walk, with marvelous views across the sound. On a clear day you can see the Space Needle and Mt. Rainier in the distance to the south, and of course the Olympics to the west. The beach goes on for miles; most of it beyond the first section is also an off-leash area for dogs, but people are usually very good with their dogs, so the pups aren't a nuisance. In the summer, the area closest to the parking area is a great beach for sunbathing, and because the water is so shallow, a warm swim area for little kids. It never seems to feel crowded or noisy there, and there are lots of logs to lean up against if you don't have a beach chair. There are pit style restrooms.
The views were really pretty and I couldn't believe how nice the beach was. It was amazing to let my dog off leash and see her have so much fun running along the surf.
If you don't have access to the state parks, this is a good public beach option which involves a nice walk.
Double Bluff is a very accessible park and beach that includes views at times of Mount Rainier, Puget Sound, and some really great driftwood sculptures! Our dog really enjoys this beach, and the drive to it is beautiful as well.
Nice beach area with many unusual driftwood formations. Parts of the beach are off leash for dogs. There were many families with small children playing on this beautiful August day along with BBQ's and a birthday party. We were fortunate enough to spot an adult osprey fishing the area. Since we are avid birders this was a very nice treat!
This is a great place to see many things around a beach setting. You can lay on the beach, play in the Sound, view the boat traffic, or walk the beach for about 2 miles. We saw lots of kids enjoying the sand and water. There is an outdoor shower to hose off the kids and big kids. We saw people with dogs walking the beach. And finally, we walked about one mile down from parking lot and had it all to ourselves with an occasional person come by.We saw ships from ferries to naval boats and the Victoria Clipper. We also could see a couple of tall buildings in Seattle (about 35 miles) and Mt. Rainer (about 50 miles). Bring beach chairs, something to eat and drink and enjoy hours of fun.
