I played this course with a friend and we both thought that it was very playable with a nice layout. You don't have to hit a driver on most of the holes. Actually, a driver can get you into trouble if you hit it long. It's best to play to the 150 yard marker on most holes to avoid trouble. Also, quite a few of the holes are doglegged which will eliminate the driver anyway. Tees, fairways, and greens were in good shape. I found it difficult to get used to putting on the greens because they were very slow on uphill putts, but very fast on downhill/sidehill putts. The course was busy, but the pace of play was good. We played in less than four hours and had to wait on most holes for the foursome ahead of us. Wenused the Golfnow app to set up our tee time and were able to play 18 holes with the cart for $14 each - you can't beat that price!
We play here every time we go to Santee. Have played 8 rounds here since we started going to Santee. Very friendly staff and a great golf course with very reasonable rates. We play a minimum of 27 every time we play here because it is very enjoyable.
I was in Santee with three friends on a golf package. Played Santee National and it was the nicest course we played here. It was challenging while still be fun. Both water and sand were encountered. If we return to Santee would play it again. Staff was excellent particularly William the assistant pro.
The staff was so friendly and helpful. The gnats were unbearable. It was close to our hotel. It has a nice snack bar. They keep it in good shape.
Good for a quick round of golf and a sandwich. For $40 round including cart meets expectations.Play can be very slow depending on time, so ask ahead.Staff is very nice and the ladies in the restaurant are real characters!
My friends have been going there for years but I've always been a Myrtle Beach guy but not going on a golf trip for a couple years they took advantage of my weakness and I signed up. Santee National is a great course and is as good as any golf course I've played, better than most. Arrived on Friday 04/18/14 after an easy 10 hour drive from northwest OH10, checked into our #1 tee condo and was awed by the accomadations. Four guys to a unit 2 bedrooms,2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, 2 TV's 1 in the one bedroom one in the main room, washer and dryer and all the necessities to live real. Grill on the patio, table and chairs all 50 yards from #1 Tee. How sweet. to have a clamdigger or screwdriver bacon and eggs while watching a dozen or so foursomes teeing off each morning. We paid $620 a person fo 6 nights lodging and 5 rounds of golf with carts of course. We paid a little more than I would like but after the fact I thought it was a fair price and would do it again; however I would save a little by playing just Santee courses, We paid more I was told because we played Orangeburg Country Club 30 miles to the west twice. It was a beautiful course but was way too challenging for 10 + handicappers. We also played Santee Cooper excellent and Lake Merion also excellent and there were several other course in a 15 mile radius we could have played. Santee area has so much to offer besides golf as it is home to Lake Merion one of the biggest man-made lakes in America with all the activities that come with a lake vacation. I was witness too lots of golfers having a great time in a great area and would reccommend that all golfers give it a try. There is alot of different packages and accomadations you can try or put into your package. I would also like to give a shout out to another Santee staple Clark's Restaurant, so disappointed I didn't try it until the last day we were there but it was a gem of a early american restaurant/gift shop. Santee is a great destination for so many reasons, you won't be disappointed.
Very friendly staff, greens excellent, price very affordable, pace of play very slow, but not terrible.
First, the pro shop people are very professional and accommodating. Second, play from the gold. We used to play from the white, but the fun was lost as we got older. Third, excellent dogs and sausages.
Beautiful well kept course nestled amongst the pines and near the lake, Beautiful enough to just walk around if you don't play
Fast greens, attentive staff, and yardage that will fit all handicaps. If you are in the area, you will not be disappointed at playing the National. The course layout is exceptional, the greens challenging and the playability of the course superb. You must give it a try if you are in the area.
Our golfing party's weekend started at Santee National where we got off to a good start. The staff proved to be very efficient at getting our group of 16 off right on time. A well-maintained course that was just challenging enough.
Visit Santee every year for golf and never miss this course. My favorite course to play as the greens are great and I love the layout. Staff have always been courtious and accomidating to our group of about 28 golfers. Have actually made extra trips down to play here with family and everyone enjoys it.
Course was in good shape. Still recovering from aeration. The starters aren't the friendliest people around but we have learned to ignore them as best we can. This is the best course in the immediate Santee area.
When I booked the trip my friends said they would go if we played Santee Nations at least twice on our trip. We played there two days with replays each day. Great course that is fair but challenging at times depending on the direction of the wind. Highly recommend this course.
Played Santee Nat'l on a cool, sunny & blustery early February Sunday. These painted/rolled greens played true. The wind made the course play its listed length.Clubhouse Mgr. was friendly & offered some helpfull advice on how the course was playing. Will definitely keep Santee Nat'l on next golfing itinerary to the area...
