I did not like Sanders Ridge wine. It's honestly the only time I have been wine tasting and I actually stopped a wine tasting. Their selection of wines were horrible and to think this is what they are giving you to make an impression! The restaurant seemed really nice and the grounds were beautiful they just need to really improve on their wines.
We visit this winery every year between Christmas and New Years. Very picturesque setting, overlooking a pond with gazebo. Lots of outdoor seating. We did their wine tasting, and for the first time ever, was very disappointed in their wines, so much so, that we did not purchase any. Which was also a first. We dined in their restaurant, which is always fantastic. They have a zip-line excursion on site, as well as a cabin for rent. We will be back, and hope they have a better wine season next year.
This is one of my favorite wineries in the Yadkin Valley...with a stellar 'chef' on staff who prepares meals on schedule AND a zipline company right next door, there are all sorts of opportunities for fun...not to mention the venue is situated on a lovely piece of property! If you've not visited here, treat yourself!
We visited this winery several weeks ago. It is part of a local farm and the property has been in the same family since the 1800's. Very nice folks...beautiful scenery and setting. They have a restaurant inside the winery and it looked like they had a fantastic menu! I can not comment on the quality of their food as we did not eat here....but what we saw being served look scrumptious! We were given a tour by the owner of the wine making facility and did a tasting of 5 of their wines. My wife and I we very disappointed with quality of the wines. The Chardonnay was so bad I could not drink it! ( I rarely pour out wine but I did with this one) We were with a large group and most all agreed that the wines had some bad after taste which was very unappealing. What a shame! Nice folks, great atmosphere...wines....not so good. I am rooting for them to get a new wine chemist or vintner to oversee their wine production. We were told that they used a couple of part time folks to oversee the blending of their wines...I think they need someone with a better palette...Just my humble opinion! To add validity to this observation...out of our group of 20 only 2 bottles of wine were bought after our tasting. At a previous stop, our group purchased over 40 bottles from another winery. Good luck Sanders Ridge....We'll check in next year to see if you have made some improvements with your wines!
Couple were super and so gracious. Beautiful view of the vineyards and great wine. Nice little gift shop inside.
On the way to Asheville, my NC colleague brought me here. Small cabin just off the road houses the zip line operation; we were outfitted here and given a brief demo on what to expect. The beautiful forest adjacent to the cabin is professionally wired and it was easily a two hour adventure in the fall forest. Jennifer and Kelsey were our instructors and they had just two priorities: our safety and our fun, in that order. Our crowd of about a dozen (make reservations!) was diverse--young/old, newbies/warriors, but at all times our security (often 50-60 foot off the ground) was paramount! Probably 13-14 lines--some quite long, took us through some breathtaking venues. When done here, turn in your gear and go sample the wines. Some great whites here, including their Trillium blend. Then, get a table on the deck overlooking the pond and have lunch. The food was delightful and the service was proficient and friendly. This place has it all. I will absolutely return!
Met friends here for lunch and had a great time. Nice wines, beautiful place, good food. Perfect for an afternoon of strolling or relaxing.
We went for a wine tasting. Choices include five or ten tastings. There was an additional tasting thrown in that was a sour apple wine. This was a big let down. The smell is enough to discourage tasting it. There is also a restaurant . We plan to try the Sunday brunch on a return trip. Dinner is also served in this beautiful hand crafted lodge from the trees on the property. No nails were used in the construction. The staff is quite friendly and hospitable.
Lovely wines and hospitality. Beautiful setting and wonderful place to unwind. Menu looked fresh but we didn't eat there.
We had the most amazing experience at Sanders Ridge restaurant this past Thursday for their Family Night Supper. The prime rib was phenomenal. The abundance of accompanying organic vegetable dishes from their own gardens was superb. The Merlot was fantastic (albeit an interesting departure from what we usually find in a Merlot--it had an intriguing and wonderful "pepper finish").The strawberry mousse delicious. But here's the kicker. They stayed open JUST FOR US. We were the only people seated on the outside porch, arriving just past 9 p.m., an hour after they had closed, but they made it very comfortable--not at all awkward. They seemed glad to have us.We love this place. Now we love it even more.We tried to go a month ago when we went to the mountains, but our dog died, so we had to stay home and bury her. This time we planned our mountain trip around dinner here, but my daughter, driving right behind me in five o'clock traffic on I-40 was rear-ended and the driver took off. My husband and I went after him to get his license number and that plus the accident delayed us. When we finally got close, we called and the dining room had closed. I pleaded my case and they stayed open and served just the five of us (my family) the most amazing prime rib dinner--for just $25.What a generous spirit. We were so pleased. The new chef is fantastic.Try this place next time you head to the NC wine country or the mountains. You'll be so glad you did.
Nice casual setting with decent wines. Small fish pond and large patios to enjoy outside dining. The white wines were palatable but not spectacular. The red blended wine was quite good.
This was one of our many stops align our wine tour. This was the last stop for the day and where we would also have dinner. The staff was almost gave us the history of the vineyard and we even had the pleasure of meeting the guy on the tractor. The food was amazing. If you are in the area looking for good wine, food, and friendly people stop here.
We had a great tasting at Sanders Ridge. Our hostess/ owner was so sweet and entertaining! The wines were very nice. We will be back!
We've always like the wines at Sanders Ridge, but finely got to try the restaurant for lunch. Beautiful setting with a roaring fire. The food was excellent! Lobster and crab dip! Tomato Basil Soup and Goat Cheese - so good. The fish (Cod) and chips with sauteed spinach. It was all fantastic and reasonably priced. We will be back
What a great experience dining outside overlooking the pond and enjoying a fun blackberry wine. Everything was wonderful. I would not change a thing. If you miss this experience when you are in Boonville, it will be your loss.
