Absolutely beautiful... Tastings were expensive and pours very small compared to those received in other US wine regions. Wines were very good, reasonably priced, and free tour of the winery was great. Definitely recommend.

We visited the Richard Childress Vineyards the last weekend of February. This is the most commercial of all the vineyards in the area. We see a lot of reviews raving more about the Bistro than the wines but we were unable to eat at the Bistro because it closes at 3 pm every day - no dinner served. We thought the tasting was overpriced at $12 for the sweet and $15 for the dry - most expensive we have seen so far. The bottle prices for the sweets were very reasonable starting at $10 but the reds were a bit pricy. The wine club turned out not to be a great deal when you multiply the bottle price by the number of bottles you receive. This was the only winery of the day we did not purchase any wines. The gift shop was nice, some unique items we had not seen before. If you are into racing (which we are not), you will probably be disappointed as there is not much of that here.

Having lunch at the Bistro is a must! Walking around the vineyard when the weather is nice, is also a must! So beautiful! If you like dry wine, then this is the wine stop for you! The gift shop is also full of really neat gifts!

We visited and were impressed with our wine tasting with Rachael. We enjoyed our lunch very much. Then we went back to talk to Rachael about joining the wine club and encountered Olga who laughed at us when we wanted to try a signature wine before buying. She informed us they were very limited so we were not able to buy a glass or sample the signature wines. We have been to several vineyards and have a few memberships and have never been laughed at. When you insult your customers they don't tend to want to return or join the wine club. We did buy a couple of wines that we tasted and would have bought more(could we have sampled) and we were planning on joining the wine club before Olga.

Met family and friends at the Vineyard for lunch on our way to Martinsville for the Fall race. The store was cute, a lot of variety of things to offer "wine related". The grounds were beautiful and lunch in the Bistro was good. Higher end pricing but delicious and the service was great. A beautiful place.

Bistro food excellent. Tastings and tour available. Classy place. Also offers entertainment events. Town of Lexington also has artist Bob Timberlake Gallery and world renown barbecue restaurants. Worth a visit.

My boyfriend and I booked the valentines evening event at Childress which included hotel, dinner dancing drinks! It was a lot of fun, more for an older crowd but we danced and had a great time regardless. The food was excellent and the wine is always on point! The price was very reasonable!

This was very classy and beautiful. The staff was super friendly and the wine is great. Definitely will visit again when I'm in town next time.

We loved the winery. The vineyards and building are gorgeous. We ate lunch in the Bistro and had a three course meal with a wine paring. Very good. After lunch we had a wine tasting. They have excellant wines. If you are in the area this is a must for lunch. There are 3 other wineries in the area.

Gift shop was great, wines were delicious but service was completely unacceptable. We were told it was a half hour wait for a table. When we checked again after 30 minutes, they said it was still a half hour. Another 45 minutes they said there was still 4 - 5 tables ahead of us. We ended up leaving without eating, do I can't comment on the food.

I enjoyed Childress Winery. It has a nice upscale feel to it. The structure and vineyard is very beautiful. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The reisling we had was excellent and the bottle price was very reasonable.

Highly recommend Childress Vineyards. Bistro restaurant very good--reservations a must. Tour was excellent and so informative. Fun day. The entire building housing the bistro and wine shop is gorgeous. Beautiful holiday decorations. Tasting was well done. The wine will surprise you with variety and quality. Staff friendly and helpful. Three other vineyards in the same area so this makes for a great weekend getaway. Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express next to Childress. The hotel is same style as the winery. Very lovely hotel with great rooms, free breakfast and free wifi. Childress Racing Museum only a few minutes drive from the winery. NASCAR fan or not, the museum is very interesting. Check the open times so you don't get there too late in the day.

We were fortunate to visit on a perfect fall day. The wine tour was very informative and interesting. Our guide could answer any question on their wine making, the grounds, the area, and future plans for the winery. The facilities are lovely and provide beautiful vistas of the vineyards. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch on the patio and then had the wine tasting. It was a lovely afternoon overall. Recommended.

We had a private tasting and tour and then lunch. A fabulous time was had by all. We tasted some great wines and the lunch was fantastic. Beautiful views and perfect weather added to the experience, but even if it had been raining, it would have been a great time.

I have been several times when visiting the area. Restaurant for lunch is on site; delicious food. Wine tours and tastings are also available. Tasting offers 2 choices: sweet ($12 pp) or dry ($15 pp). Each contains both white and reds; tasting ~ 8 total. Wines plus a nice selection of gift items are available for purchase. Wines are actually quite good. I always buy something and my relative is a member of their wine club. A fun way to spend a bit of the afternoon with friends/family/date.
